VW Taigun Facelift Revealed

The updated iteration of the mid-size SUV comes with a few new-age features and tweaked styling

In this post, we discuss the VW Taigun facelift details as the mid-size SUV comes to the surface. Taigun has been a crucial product for the German car marque in India in the last few years. It has created a lot of business for Volkswagen due to the heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform. The localization has ensured that the maintenance, service and repair costs are reduced in comparison to the older VW models. That has boosted demand and sales of VW and Skoda cars in our market. For now, let us take a look at the specifics of what the new Taigun offers.

VW Taigun Facelift – Exterior Styling

The new VW Taigun facelift carries a lot of design elements from the pre-facelift model. Still, there are enough changes to set the two apart. For instance, the front fascia now embodies a new LED light bar with a connected LED strip between the headlamps, a new grille section, a fresh bumper design with elegant horizontal fog lamps and a massive air dam. The latter seems to have been inspired by the larger and more premium Tiguan. On the sides, it gets a sturdy appearance with roof rails, solid body panels, elegant alloy wheels and rugged wheel arches and side body claddings. At the rear, the profile is busy with connected LED taillamps, a chunky bumper with a solid skid plate, a shark fin antenna and a roof-mounted spoiler. Also, there are plenty of GT badges all around the car. All these elements ensure that the Taigun facelift bears a fresh look.

VW Taigun Facelift – Interior, Features and Safety

Just like with every facelift model, there are some additional features to set it apart from the outgoing model and the new Taigun is no different. Some of the top highlights include:

  • 10.1-inch Digital Infotainment Display
  • Hello Volkswagen Voice Assistant Powered by Google’s Automotive AI Agent
  • 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Instrument Cluster
  • Four Configurable Views
  • Volkswagen Sound System
  • Variant-exclusive Upholstery
  • Panoramic Sunroof with Summer Function
  • Ventilated Front Seats
  • 6-way Electric Adjustable Driver Seat
  • Smart Touch Climatronic AC
  • Rear Windshield Wiper with Intermittent Control
  • Heated Rear Windshield
  • 6 Airbags
  • 5-star Global NCAP Rating
  • Over 40 Safety Features
  • Front and Rear Parking Sensors

Specs

The VW Taigun facelift comes with two powertrain alternatives – a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine. These are good for 115 PS / 178 Nm and 150 PS / 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The former can be mated with a first-in-segment 8-speed automatic transmission, while the latter gets a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Hence, convenience is at the top of the priority list for the German carmaker. With the larger mill, the SUV gets all disc brakes. The pre-bookings are currently underway.

Editor’s Note

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

Having closely followed Volkswagen’s India strategy, I see this Taigun facelift as a calculated step to stay relevant in an increasingly feature-driven segment. While the core strengths of solid build quality and driving dynamics remain intact, the addition of modern tech and convenience features was long overdue for Indian buyers. In this space, even perception matters as much as performance, and Volkswagen seems to be addressing that gap. If priced competitively, the updated Taigun has the potential to regain lost ground against more aggressively packaged rivals.
