The 2015 BMW X3 facelift has been launched in India. First showcased at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this is a mid-life upgrade not a full-fledged design change, though there are some significant changes made to the SUV.
- X3 xDrive20d Expedition – Rs. 44.9 Lakh
- X3 xDrive20d xLine – Rs. 49.9 Lakh
All prices are ex-showroom.
On the outside, the changes are limited to redesigned headlamps, revised grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, ORVM covers with integrated indicators and new alloy wheel design. New paint options along with a slightly redesigned interior also refreshed this SUV. The X3 now comes with new upholstery, a revised infotainment system which has the iDrive integrated in it and they are complemented by gloss black accents and new cup holders on the inside.
The xLive trim adds matte aluminium inserts in the bumpers, the kidney grill and side-window lines along with matte aluminium exhausts, door sill with ‘BMW xLine’ badges, sport leather steering wheel, new upholstery colours and 18-inch alloy wheels with two different designs.
A ‘Driving Experience Control’ switch available as standard lets the driver switch between driving modes – Eco Pro, Comfort and Sport. The xDrive 4WD system lets the X3 handle most off-road situations without any issues, though it is not a hardcore off-roader by any means.
The EfficientDynamics package, which is standard, adds auto start-stop, brake energy regeneration and other technologies to keep the SUV as fuel-efficient as possible. Switch to the Sport mode though and you can experience the sporty nature of the SUV.
The X3 now gets the latest iDrive system. This offers Bluetooth and USB connectivity for infotainment. An automatic parking assist helps the driver park the SUV in the tightest of spots without damaging anything. Heads-up display, an updated navigation system, smart tail-gate opener and storage package are also part of this facelift.
The BMW X3 xDrive20d is powered by a 2.0-litre all aluminium turbo diesel, the power output of which has been bumped up by 9 BHP to 187 BHP @4,000 RPM. The engine produces 400 NM of torque (increase of 20 Nm) between 1,750 and 2,250 RPM and will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The X3 can accelerate from 0-100 KMPH in 8.1 seconds and go up to a top speed of 210 KMPH.
