We all know that Maruti Suzuki is the market leader and we also know that the company talks in volumes it rolls out each month out of its plants across the country. In addition to the successful launch of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 which the company is happy about, another reason for celebration has come up.
The company has successfully rolled out 5 Lakh K-series engine including the K10 and K12, sported by Alto, A-Star, Wagon-R, Swift, Ritz, Zen Estilo, and Swift Dzire respectively. In less than 23 months since the first K-series engine in October 2008, the company has manufactured 500,000 units which is soon to get expanded by 200,000 more units by 2012.
On the occasion Maruti Suzuki MD and CEO, Shinzo Nakanishi said, “Introduction of K-series engine in India is an example of Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to take the engine technology in India to the next level. In a short span, the company has scaled up the production of K-series engine manifold. K-series engines are environment friendly and fuel efficient while delivering performance,”
K-Series K10 Engine Specifications
It is a 998CC three cylinder engine coming with Alto-K10, A star, Estilo and new WagonR which offers a maximum power 68PS @ 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 90Nm @ 3500 rpm in Alto-K10 and new WagonR whereas 67PS @ 6200rpm and torque of 90Nm @ 3500 rpm in A Star and Estilo. The engine is very popular for its high fuel efficiency of 20.2 kmpl.
K-Series K12 Engine Specifications
This is the second engine from the K-series family with a displacement of 1061CC and comes fitted with Ritz, Swift and Swift Dzire. Being a sibling of the K10 this engine is also very light and has an appreciable fuel efficiency of 17.9 kmpl .
