In this area, the EcoSport has a distinct advantage over its rivals as it is the only car to offer a dual-clutch transmission option. The Nexon offers a 6-speed manual gearbox only (for now). Its petrol engine, a 1.2-litre RevoTron turbo petrol unit has a lower power output than both petrol engines of the EcoSport. However, its torque output matches that of the more powerful 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol’s output.

The Tata Nexon has a clear advantage over the EcoSport here. Tata equips both its engines with drive modes, which are likely to help the Nexon deliver better mileage than EcoSport’s ARAI-certified mileage. Coming to the EcoSport, its mileage figures are decent for this category of cars.

Lengthwise, the Nexon is just 4mm shorter than EcoSport but curiously, it is 22mm shorter in wheelbase than its Ford rival. However, it more than makes up for it in terms of width. At 1,811mm, the Nexon is 46mm wider than the EcoSport. Lastly, the EcoSport offers 101mm more headroom than Nexon.

The Nexon comes with some premium features such as projector headlamps with LED DRLs, touchscreen infotainment unit with navigation, an 8-speaker audio system by Harman and dual airbags+ABS and EBD as standard safety features.

The EcoSport, with its recent feature update, is now more competitive than before. It has touchscreen infotainment unit with navigation, a reverse parking camera and up to 6 airbags on offer.

Price – The Nexon has a clear advantage over the EcoSport. With a price differnence of over a lakh rupees between some variants, the Nexon emerges as a much more pocket-friendly option.

Specifications – The Nexon comes with a 1.2-litre RevoTron turbo petrol and 1.5-litre RevoTorq turbo diesel engine. The EcoSport comes with three engine options – two petrol and one diesel – which means more options for the buyers. Also, Ford offers a dual-clutch transmission on EcoSport Petrol, which the Nexon doesn’t.  This is one significant advantage Ford has in this segment.

Mileage – The Nexon petrol offers a higher mileage than the 1.5 EcoSport petrol. However, its petrol engine is slightly less frugal than the EcoSport’s 1.0 EcoBoost turbo petrol engine. The Ford SUV’s oil burner offers a slightly higher mileage than the Nexon Diesel. In real world conditions, the two SUVs are likely to be closely matched in this department.

Dimensions – Both cars offer their own advantages here. However, while Ford offers more legroom and headroom (more wheelbase and taller car), the Nexon offers more elbow room (wider car).

Features – The Nexon comes packed with all the latest features you expect in a car from this segment. After all, the EcoSport is quite old now and while it has a good feature list, the Nexon is the newer car here. It enjoys an advantage in this department.

There were much expectations when TATA came out with a reasonably good engine and evoque inspired design…..TATA is too careless when it comes to design part….The so called space in the centre console is useless….The fitments and panels inside are not perfect…The so called Ceramic line outside doesn’t fit well to the body…. the so called umbrella holder is a small hole to which you cannot fit an umbrella properly …..and the biggest flop in the design is that they have put a centre fan console that eats away the space of a middle passenger which could have been the advantage….and it is disastrous to note that it is not an AC vent but a mere fan…….TATA is making the customers fools…..the rear seats lacks cushioning……and that way the vehicle is not a good buy for 10 lakhs…..coming to engine part….Petrol one is not that a big tech while diesel is just ok….and the durability is a question which you will have to wait and see……..
