Ducati India has launched the 2019 Diavel 1260 and the Diavel 1260 S in India at Rs 17.70 lakh and Rs 19.25 lakh, respectively. The new Diavels replace the existing Diavel which has been one of Ducati’s best selling bikes in India. Both the bikes are available at all dealerships across the country and bookings for them are also open.
The 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 has been re-engineered completely from grounds up. It gets a new chassis, suspension, steering geometry and a lot more. The heart of both the Diavels is the 1,262cc, Testastretta, liquid-cooled, L-twin engine which produces 159 hp at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm at 7,500 rpm. In fact, its the same engine that’s found in the Multistrada 1260 and XDiavel. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The looks of the new Diavel is completely bonkers. It retains the signature stance of the Diavel and the muscles on the tank, the exposed trellis frame and the massive 240/45 R17 rear tyre mounted on a single-sided swingarm give oodles of character to the motorcycle. The single piece seat sits on a short sub-frame and the characteristic twin strip of LED tail lamps have been retained with this new bike as well.
The Ducati Diavel 1260 and the Diavel 1260 S also share the same trellis frame. When compared to the previous model, the rake in this new Diavel has been dropped by one degree and there’s a slight drop in trail as well. That improves the handling of the bike by making it quicker to steer and while taking noticeably less effort to do so.
The Diavle 1260 and the Diavel 1260 S have some mechanical differences, that’s why the difference in price. The Diavel 1260 S top-level, adjustable Ohlins for its suspension duties while braking is taken care by Brembo M50 Monobloc calipers at the front. The Diavel 1260 S also gets a bi-directional quick-shifter, the Ducati Multimedia system and Ducati Link App as standard fitment.
The new Ducati Diavel 1260 siblings also gets a 6-axis IMU-based electronic rider aids with three riding modes – Urban, Touring and Sport. The urban mode limits the power to 100hp while Touring and Sport modes let you enjoy all of the power. The electronics package includes Bosch Cornering ABS EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Power Launch (DPL) EVO and Cruise Control.
