The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X scheduled to launch in 2020 has been caught doing the rounds on Indian roads several times. The spy shots of the two-wheeler indicate that the riding posture will be completely different now.
The spy shots reveal that the upcoming 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X will not be very different from the ongoing model. And based on the spy shots a digital rendered image has been done via Indianautosblog.
The curvy design, round headlamp and the black paint on some parts. The upcoming bike will get split seat design instead of using a single piece unit. It will also retain its pillion grabrail to give the bike an aesthetic appeal.
At the rear, the most noticeable change is the repositioned number plate and the low-set indicators. The round taillight gives the bike a classic look. The bike will continue to get telescopic suspension at the front and gas charged twin shock absorbers at the rear. Also, it will see disc brake on both the wheels and will get dual channel ABS unit as a safety feature. The positions of the sprocket and the rear disc have also been interchanged.
Mechanical changes will include a new BS-6 compliant engine, which will get some other revisions as well. The updated engines will offer more power and quicker acceleration. At present, the 499cc single-cylinder, the air-cooled unit produces a total of 28 bhp at 5,250 rpm along with a peak torque of 41 Nm at 4,000 rpm. R.E also have a 346cc engine which produces 20 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
The drive chain is also repositioned on the BS6 models and now it sits on the left hand side of the motorcycles. Other new bits include new chrome-plated exhaust muffler, new halogen headlamps and a revised tail section.
