KTM Duke 390 vs TVS Apache RTR 310 Drag Race

This is an interesting drag race between the 2024 KTM Duke 390 and TVS Apache RTR 310. Both these are performance motorcycles in the big engine capacity segment. On paper, the Duke certainly has an edge over the RTR. However, it is always interesting to witness how these bikes perform in real-world conditions. Riders opting for performance often have options between these two. That is what makes this drag race intriguing. However, the Apache RTR is still locked as it has not completed 1,000 km yet. Hence, the top speed is limited to 138 km/h. Let us see who comes out on top.

This video comes from Ayush Verma on YouTube. The YouTuber has the two bikes side-by-side. For the first round, the YouTuber takes the Apache RTR 310 and his companion has the Duke 390. At the count of three, the riders pull the accelerator lever. The KTM lunges forward with a thump. The Apache struggles in the beginning. However, as the race progresses, the gap between the two keeps on increasing. For the second round, they switch the rides to accommodate the driving mannerisms of both riders. However, the result remained exactly the same. The Duke 390 is the ultimate victor.

What We Think

Numerous YouTubers have adopted the common practice of employing drag races as a means to assess the performance of different motorcycles. However, it’s essential to recognize that leaning solely on drag races for these evaluations may not be the most prudent strategy. This apprehension stems from the potential for drag races to inflict enduring harm on motorcycles, given that most bikes are not engineered for prolonged high-speed, straight-line racing. Consequently, we highly discourage the attempt to engage in drag races with your own motorcycles. In reality, the majority of riders refrain from pushing their bikes to such extreme limits, placing a higher emphasis on safety and safeguarding both themselves and their vehicles from harm.
