The mid-size SUV has already received an upgrade in 2023 to stay in the competition
The 2026 MG Hector facelift has finally been teased before its unveiling, slated for December 15, 2025. We know that Hector is one of the most feature-laden products in its class. That has been the case ever since it was first launched in India back in 2019. However, due to increasing competition in this space, the sales figures have not been all that promising. In order to remedy that, MG is prepping to upgrade the Hector once more. Here is what we know so far!
2026 MG Hector Facelift Teased
The official teaser captures a few key elements about the upcoming facelift version of the MG Hector. This primarily includes the front fascia with a colossal grille finished in chrome. The individual insignias accentuate the width of the grille, giving the SUV an imposing road presence and a premium vibe. Apart from that, the LED DRLs continue to appear on the extreme edges of the bonnet, while the main LED headlamp clusters are located on the bumper down below. I don’t believe there will be too many exterior styling changes in comparison to the existing model. Still, minor tweaks will do the job just fine. This could include things like redesigned bumpers and a new set of alloy wheels.
Now, we know that MG offers all the latest tech, connectivity, convenience and safety amenities in its products. The 2026 MG Hector won’t be any different. However, since the current version already bears all the bells and whistles, we can expect a handful of updates inside the cabin. This might incorporate things like an updated 14-inch portrait-styled touchscreen infotainment unit, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated seats, etc. In any case, the cabin will be full the tech-savvy functionalities, as well as the option of a 5-seat or a 7-seat (Hector Plus) layout.
Expected Specs
I don’t see any reason to believe that there will be any changes to the powertrain and transmission alternatives on the 2026 MG Hector in comparison to what the current version gets. This means a 1.5-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel mill, generating 143 hp / 250 Nm and 170 hp / 350 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. While the 6-speed manual transmission will be common on both these engines, the petrol trim can also be had with a CVT automatic gearbox. More details will emerge in the coming days.
