Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Spied

The new generation version of the popular premium hatchback has started road testing

Updated on 06.05.2026 – The new generation iteration of the Hyundai i20 has finally been spotted testing from the inside and outside. i20 is among the most popular premium hatchbacks in the country. It bears the responsibility of creating this niche segment, which has now grown considerably. Despite the onslaught from the compact SUVs, this category has remained in demand. Cars like the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz continue to attract new customers. For now, let us delve into the details of what the new-gen model of the i20 will offer.

This post stems from trakinauto on Instagram. The visuals capture the heavily camouflaged test mule of the new-gen i20. At the front, it carries sleek LED headlamps along with the flowing bonnet similar to the current model. On the sides, the alloy wheels and new ORVMs look attractive. Additionally, the tail end contains new connected LED taillamps. On the inside, the premium hatchback will get new seats, three headrests for the second row passengers, and a new layout. More details will surface in the coming weeks.

Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Spotted Testing – What All’s New?

Originally published on 03.03.2026 – In this post, we take a look at the details of the next-gen Hyundai i20, which was spied testing recently. i20 has been a monumental product for the Indian market. It was the reason which gave birth to the premium hatchback segment. Over the years, the Korean auto giant has been updating it constantly to keep it fresh. As a result, its demand is still decent, especially considering the onslaught from the compact and micro SUVs. For now, let us take a look at the details of what the new i20 will offer.

Next-Gen Hyundai i20 Spotted Testing

This post stems from trakinauto on Instagram. The visuals capture the camouflaged premium hatchback, most likely in its native market of South Korea. At the front, we witness a distinct bonnet along with sleek LED headlamps and a sporty bumper. In all honesty, the resemblance to the existing model is evident. On the sides, the silhouette is not too different from the current model either. Nevertheless, I am certain that the alloy wheel design will be new. Finally, the tail is also completely wrapped in a thick covering.

On the inside, things will be quite interesting. We already know that the Korean car marque loves to equip its models with tons of new-age tech amenities. Hence, we have no reason to think that it won’t be the case this time around. This might include things like a new steering wheel with a flat bottom and multimedia controls, a new curved panoramic display with an infotainment unit and driver’s instrument cluster, sporty seats, etc. In any case, the new i20 will be loaded with features. I don’t suppose there will be any changes to the powertrain and transmission alternatives. More details will keep surfacing in the times to come.

From my perspective, the next-gen Hyundai i20 carries immense significance because this badge practically defined the premium hatchback space in India. However, todayโ€™s market dynamics are very different, with compact SUVs aggressively eating into hatchback volumes. Hyundai will need to push the envelope on design and in-cabin tech to keep the i20 aspirational and relevant. If priced smartly and positioned well, it can still hold its ground among urban buyers who value style, features and a refined petrol powertrain.
