Kia Carens Clavis Diesel HTX MT Top Model Review

The 7-seat SUV from the Korean auto giant offers some attractive features to pamper the occupants

In this post, we take a look at 5 pros and 3 cons of the new Kia Carens Clavis. Clavis is a 3-row SUV which was launched a few months ago in its current avatar. Carrying Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language, the Carens Clavis bears a striking exterior. Apart from that, we know that the interior and features on Kia cars are always among the best in their respective segments. For now, let us check out the top highlights of the vehicle, along with a few cons.

5 Pros of the New Kia Carens Clavis

  • 3 Engine Options– The biggest attraction for Kia Carens Clavis buyers is the availability of 3 powertrain alternatives – a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. Not just that, these engines can be paired with manual and automatic transmissions. Hence, the customers can choose as per their needs.
  • Loaded with Features – Being a Kia, it is expected that the Carens Clavis comes equipped with all the latest tech, convenience, connectivity and safety functionalities to pamper the occupants and the car doesn’t disappoint at all.
  • Ride Quality – During our media drive event, we appreciated the supple ride quality of the vehicle while on the move. Additionally, the rear seat passengers can use the Boss Mode to push the front seat forward and recline the second row seat to achieve a comfortable sitting position.
  • Spacious 3rd Row – We were thoroughly impressed by the amount of space on offer in the 3rd row. This aspect really enhances the practicality of the cabin and makes passengers comfortable even on long journeys.
  • Value-for-Money – I believe that there is no other product in this price range which can offer all of this in a single package. This makes the new Kia Carens Clavis a great value-for-money proposition.

3 Cons of the New Kia Carens Clavis

  • Premium Features on Higher Variants – Now, while this may be understandable, I must reiterate that some of the best features, like the ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, etc., are available only on the higher trims like the HTX and HTX+. These trims are a bit on the expensive side.
  • Boot Space – With all 3 rows up, there is not much boot space to carry the luggage of all passengers. However, the 50:50 split function for the 3rd row certainly makes things easier. Also, this is a common issue with just about every 3-row car out there.
  • Expensive Automatic Variants – Now, while the starting prices of the Kia Carens Clavis are quite attractive, you will need to shell out considerably more if you wish to purchase the automatic trims of petrol and diesel versions.
