The XL6 is the slightly premium version of the mighty popular Ertiga and is sold via the Nexa dealerships from Maruti Suzuki
In this post, we discuss the 6 pros and 3 cons of the Maruti Suzuki XL6. I recently drove the MPV to experience it fully. Note that it is an MPV based on the immensely successful Ertiga. We know that Maruti Nexa dealerships sell slightly premium cars in comparison to the Maruti Arena. Hence, the Ertiga is sold via Arena dealerships. In any case, there are not too many differences between the two. For now, let us glance at the pros and cons of the XL6.
6 Pros of Maruti Suzuki XL6
- Captain Seats – The first reason to go for the Maruti Suzuki XL6 is the captain seats in the second row. Since it gets a 6-seat layout, the passengers in the second row can really experience a generous space. Also, the dedicated roof-mounted AC vents mean that you will remain cool even during the hot summer days.
- Fuel Economy – We know that Maruti cars have been extremely successful in India, primarily due to the fact that they offer high mileage. During my driving experience, I was able to get over 20 km/l on the highways and close to 15 km/l in the city. That is decent fuel economy for a car of this size.
- Ride Quality – During my driving experience, I was particularly impressed by the ride quality of the Maruti Suzuki XL6. Since it is catered to the comfort of the passengers, one feels that while driving it on the road as well.
- Styling – Now, in comparison to the Maruti Ertiga, the XL6 bears a few striking elements on the outside to make it look unique and more imposing. For instance, the thick chrome slab on the front grille certainly lends it a more aggressive demeanour.
- Smooth Transmission – Another key thing I noticed during my time with the MPV is just how smooth the gearshifts were with the automatic transmission. In fact, one doesn’t feel the car going through the gears at all. That ensures a comfortable ride regardless of the road conditions.
- Aftersales Services – Finally, Maruti Suzuki has been the largest carmaker in the country for around 3 decades now. During this time, it has been able to establish tons of touchpoints for the customers, including dealerships and service workshops. That offers peace of mind to the buyers.
3 Cons of Maruti Suzuki XL6
- Boot Space – Understandably, it is difficult to get a huge boot compartment in any 3-row vehicle. That holds true for the Maruti Suzuki XL6 as well. Having said that, the 209-litre capacity is not horrific by any stretch of imagination. Still, if 6 people are travelling on a long journey, it won’t be able to hold their luggage.
- Sedate Driving – Being a large MPV, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 is not meant for enthusiastic driving. In fact, the engine is tuned for a relaxed and comfortable ride. As a result, you will need to be mindful of this and not expect an explosive performance.
- Practicality – Finally, the XL6 is an exclusively 6-seater vehicle. In the second row, buyers will get captain seats and not bench seating. This means that 7 people can’t be accommodated in this otherwise spacious car. These are the pros and cons of the Maruti Suzuki XL6.
