Hyundai has now launched the new Aura sedan, with prices starting at Rs 5.79 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It is based on the Hyundai Xcent and will soon replace the latter in the market. Further, the Xcent will only be sold to cab fleet operators in the Prime version.

Hyundai Aura has a lot of changes and upgrades when compared to the Xcent. There’s a new engine, BS-6 engines, major styling changes and new features as well. So, here we compare both of them to see how the Aura has gotten better than Xcent.

Base variants of the Aura come in cheaper than the Xcent but the top-end variants demand up to Rs 30,000-40,000 more. The price of Xcent starts at Rs 5.81 Lakhs up to Rs 8.79 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). As for the Aura, its top-end diesel AMT variant goes up to Rs 9.23 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Aura uses the same 1.2 Litre Kappa VTVT petrol engine but is now BS-6 compliant. The power figures remain the same at 83 BHP and 116 Nm of peak torque. While a 5-speed manual gearbox remains standard on both the cars, Aura gets the new 5-speed AMT ditching the 4-speed AT from Xcent.

Additionally, the Aura is offered with a new 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engine, a detuned version from the Venue. The engine pumps out 100 BHP and 172 Nm of peak torque, while mated to a 5-speed MT only. It comes only with the SX+ variant.

Similarly, both the models get the same diesel engine, but Aura is BS-6 compliant. The 1.2 Litre U2 CRDi oil burner produces 75 BHP and 190 Nm of peak torque. The Xcent only came with a 5-speed MT, without any automatic transmission offered. The Aura diesel comes with 5-speed MT as well as a 5-speed AMT.

Hyundai Aura Vs Hyundai Xcent – Styling

The Aura has received a major makeover when it comes to styling. The new sedan is inspired by the global design language that is seen on the new Verna, Creta and Venue. The front and rear bumpers are sharper than ever. It gets the Hyundai cascading grille with Boomerang-shaped LED DRLs strapped on both sides. The styling is identical to what seen on Grand i10 Nios. You can also see the new 15-inch diamond-cut alloys, similar to Nios and Venue. At the back, the Xcent gets a coupe-type roofline with sporty bumper and taller boot lid. You can also spot the new wrap-around LED tail lamps.
