BS6 Maruti WagonR CNG Launched; To Offer 32.5 km/kg Mileage

Maruti WagonR now gets a BS6 compliant CNG engine, with a starting price of Rs 5.25 Lakhs. It now offers a mileage of 32.5 kms/kg.

Expanding in the green mobility space, Maruti has now launched the BS6 WagonR with CNG. WagonR CNG is available in two variants, LXI and LXI (O), priced at Rs 5.25 Lakhs and Rs 5.32 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

In comparison to the BS4 version, the BS6 Maruti WagonR CNG costs Rs 25,000 more. WagonR with CNG will offer a mileage of 32.5 kilometres/KG. It gets a tank capacity of 60 Litres with an additional petrol tank capacity of 32 litres.

Maruti has paired the CNG with the 1.0 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine. With the kit, the engine now produces 60 PS and 78 Nm of peak torque. The 5-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission that is available on the CNG variants.

WagonR gets Maruti’s latest S-CNG technology. With this, the vehicles feature dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and intelligent injection system. This enables them for optimum power supply in any type of terrain.

On the other hand, the regular petrol BS6 WagonR 1.0 Litre produces 68 PS and 90 Nm of peak torque. It also gets the more powerful 1.2 Litre four-cylinder K12B motor. The bigger engine produces 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque. This engine also gets a 5-speed AMT as an option.

Features onboard the WagonR include a touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors, steering mounted audio controls, electric ORVMs, rear wiper and washer, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and fog lamps.

Maruti is planning to expand further in the CNG and other types of green mobility space. It is expected to equip more models with a CNG kit. Since diesel engines have been taken off small Maruti cars, the company wants to fill the gap with CNG variants.
