New Hyundai Creta Alcazar Facelift

Hyundai Motor India could launch as many as 3 new SUVs this year. The second-largest carmaker in the country recently launched the Creta facelift. Hence, the Alcazar (7-seat version of Creta) will also get a facelift. Apart from that, since the industry is moving toward electric mobility and Hyundai is a prominent EV player in the global market, it will bring an electric version of the Creta to India as well. That will be the third EV from Hyundai in our market after Kona Electric and Ioniq 5. Let us take a look at the details here.

3 New Upcoming Hyundai SUVs

Creta EV

Let us commence this list with the Creta EV. It could bear some distinctions from the existing ICE Creta. Still, most elements will be similar to keep the costs down. In fact, we have seen it testing on the roads in its native market. The electric mid-size SUV is expected to feature a 39.2 kWh Lithium-ion polymer battery pack, which will power a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) capable of delivering a peak output of 136 PS and 395 Nm. Using an AC home charger, the battery pack can be fully replenished from 0 to 100% in approximately 6 hours and 10 minutes. Alternatively, with a 50 kW DC fast charger, an 80% charge from 0 can be achieved in just 57 minutes. According to ARAI, the Kona Electric boasts an impressive driving range of 452 km on a full charge.

Alcazar Facelift

Alcazar is the 7-seat iteration of the popular Creta. In fact, it leverages Creta’s massive success in India and adds a bit more practicality to the cabin. Since we already saw the Creta facelift in our market recently, these changes will trickle down to the Alcazar too. Apart from the aesthetic alterations, the Alcazar will most likely continue to carry the 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine along with multiple transmission options. The Alcazar facelift will arrive with a slight premium in the pricing in comparison to the current model.

Tucson Facelift

Finally, we could also see the facelift avatar of the Tucson. It is the flagship SUV from the Korean carmaker in our market (not considering Ioniq 5). It comes with tons of modern equipment, connectivity features and convenience amenities to take care of the utmost comfort of the passengers. Under its hood, there is currently the option between either a 2.0-litre petrol or a 2.0-litre diesel mill. Note that all variants of the Tucson come with an automatic transmission. With the facelift, we could witness some aesthetic tweaks and the addition of more features. It would be interesting to see if the premium SUV continues to get the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or if Hyundai will offer the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. These are the three new SUVs planned for launch by Hyundai this year.

Author’s Note

Hyundai is constantly evolving and wants to keep its lineup fresh. That is why it is keeping itself busy. Its sales have been consistently impressive for a long time. However, with the rising competition, particularly from Tata Motors, it wants to ensure that there are no loose strings. Hence, a fresh portfolio will keep the customers interested in Hyundai cars going forward. We shall have to wait to see the impact of these new SUVs on sales data this year.
