The new BMW 7 Series (740 M Sport), i7 50 xDrive M Sport and i7 M70 xDrive have been launched for the Indian market. Up front, the large illuminated kidney grille and crystal-effect headlights give it a distinctive look, with the larger, matt-finish BMW badge sitting neatly between the bonnet lines. The side profile is smoother, with flush-fitting door handles and a character line that runs from the front to the rear, making the car look longer and more elegant. At the back, the slim, stretched-out taillights add width and give the sedan a sportier stance. The M Sport version brings a more aggressive appearance with larger air intakes, black exterior detailing, sportier bumpers and 20-inch wheels. The i7 M70 goes a step further with darker grille lighting, black trim, 21-inch M wheels and a wider rear diffuser, giving it a distinctly performance-focused character.

New BMW 7 Series Range Launched – Specs
The new BMW 7 Series in ICE guise uses the powerful 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo petrol mill, which generates 400 hp and 540 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Mated to an automatic transmission, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in just 5.4 seconds. On the other hand, the electric BMW i7 carries a massive 112.5 kWh battery pack, which is good for a range of 728 km (WLTP) on a single charge (125 km more than the outgoing model).
This configuration belts out 455 hp and 660 Nm in the regular version and a whopping 680 hp and 1,015 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively, in the dual-motor M Performance model. This propels the luxury EV from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h. Using a 250 kW DC charger, the EV goes from 10% to 80% in just 28 mins (235 km of range in just 10 minutes). With a 22 kW AC charger, it takes 6 hours to charge from 0 to 100%. The BMW i7 and i7 M70 come with a complimentary BMW Wallbox charger with installation. It can be integrated at home to enable safe and convenient charging up to 22kW.

The new BMW 740 M Sport is priced at Rs 1.95 Crore, the BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport bears a price tag of Rs 1.95 Crore and the BMW i7 M70 xDrive retails for Rs 2.65 Crore, ex-showroom. The new BMW 7 Series and i7 continue to represent the very top end of BMW’s luxury sedan portfolio in India, but the interesting part is the choice between petrol and electric power. The 740 M Sport should appeal to buyers who still want the character and performance of a powerful six-cylinder engine, while the i7 brings an impressive combination of range, outright performance and cutting-edge technology. I particularly like how BMW has focused on the rear-seat experience, considering these cars will primarily be used by chauffeur-driven customers.
