Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG Launched India

The CNG market is growing rapidly in our market as customers are beginning to look for petrol alternatives

Mahindra has finally launched the XUV 3XO CNG for the Indian market. It is calling the SUV XUV 3XO ZNG. Note that the XUV 3XO is already available with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. However, with the CNG version joining the lineup, the family is complete. Buyers will now be able to pick the XUV 3XO in every configuration they want, as per their requirements. As is the case with other carmakers who launch CNG versions of their existing models, there are no major exterior or interior alterations. The bookings will open from October 20, 2026, and the deliveries will also commence from the same day. In any case, let us check out the details of the new Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG – Specs

Since the biggest difference is under the hood, let us commence from there. The compact SUV comes with a 1.2-litre turbo MPFi petrol + CNG engine, which generates a healthy 115 PS and 200 Nm of peak power and torque, which is similar to the regular petrol engine. The fact that the power and torque is similar in petrol and CNG versions is unheard of. Also, it is offered with a sole 6-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the claimed fuel efficiency is 24.7 km/kg. Mahindra says that this is the first CNG engine with a 10-bar CNG injection system for better engine combustion and efficiency.

Also, the turbocharger has been optimized for bi-fuel application. Apart from that, the dual-cylinder technology ensures efficient packaging, which results in a roomy boot compartment. In fact, even in the CNG mode, the Indian auto giant claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 11.8 seconds, while 0-60 km/h comes up in just 4.9 seconds. These are some pretty impressive numbers for a CNG car. In fact, it speaks to the engineering prowess Mahindra has displayed with the new SUV.

Editor’s Note

The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG is an interesting addition to the compact SUV segment, especially because it promises to retain the performance of the turbo-petrol version while offering lower running costs. I find the combination of 115 PS, 200 Nm and a 6-speed manual gearbox particularly impressive for a factory-fitted CNG SUV, while the claimed 24.7 km/kg efficiency adds to its appeal. The dual-cylinder setup, which allows for a usable 270-litre boot, also addresses one of the biggest compromises associated with CNG-powered cars. With features such as a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25-inch screens and six airbags, the XUV 3XO CNG doesn’t feel like a stripped-down alternative. Its success will ultimately depend on real-world fuel efficiency, refinement and how well the turbocharged engine performs in everyday CNG driving. – Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor
