Vlogger Details MG Cloud EV

The Indian automobile industry is slated to encounter multiple modern-day electric cars in the coming months.

A prominent Indian vlogger showcases the upcoming MG Cloud EV which will launch in our market soon. MG has not been performing as well on the sales charts as it would’ve wanted. As a result, the Chinese-owned British carmaker will finally try its luck with electric cars. The EV segment is growing exponentially in India. Even though the growth in the top automobile nations like the U.S. and China is starting to slow down, emerging nations are still at a nascent stage. For now, let us take a look at the details of this EV.

India-Bound MG Cloud EV Detailed

This video arrives from King Indian on YouTube. The vlogger offers a complete and thorough walkaround tour of the upcoming EV. At the front, it gets a rather unique and distinct appearance. This includes a sleek LED light bar which runs across the width of the EV and culminates in a dual LED DRL unit on the edges. It acts as a bifurcation between the bonnet and a large bumper area. The latter houses round LED headlamps with a chrome insert on the extreme edges of the bumper. Being an EV, there is no grille. On the sides, there are 16-inch machined alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles and black side pillars with chrome window frames. At the rear, the EV gets connected LED taillamps with the light bar covering the width of the vehicle and the chrome frame from the window frames continuing on at the rear too. All in all, this EV certainly looks unique.

However, the main attraction is inside the cabin. As soon as one enters the EV, the premium quotient becomes evident. There is a compact digital instrument cluster, wooden inlays on the dashboard, tons of storage spaces, a colossal touchscreen infotainment display, steering-mounted controls, wireless charging, elegant and stylish door panels, ambient lighting, seamless AC vents integrated into the dashboard, armrest, rear AC vents, a colossal boot compartment, gear level mounted on the steering wheel, all windows with one-touch up/down control, high-res 360-degree camera, powered tailgate, comfortable cushioning for the seats, rear armrest and more. It has to be one of the best-equipped EVs in this space.

Specs and Price

The details about the powertrain and price are still not available. Still, I would like to hazard a guess based on some reports floating around on the internet. The upcoming MG Cloud EV could possess a 38 kWh battery pack with a range of over 450 km on a single charge. Apart from that, the length of the EV would be around 4.3 m with a wheelbase of 2.7 m. What is important will be its pricing. There are guesstimates that the EV could be priced at around Rs 20 lakh. That would be a great price bracket considering the upcoming and existing products. Hence, the buyers are in for a treat as they will have tons of options.

Our View

The EV market is expanding in India at a rapid pace. EVs are becoming more common as people are willing to experiment. At present, the market space is captured by Tata Motors. Going forward more car companies will join which is a healthy thing for the customers. I feel this Rs 20 lakh price point will gain prominence in the immediate future. Let us keep an eye out for further details of this EV.
