Mahindra XEV 9e 0-100 km/h Acceleration Test in All Modes

Mahindra has partially launched the all-new XEV 9e electric coupe SUV for the Indian market and the deliveries are slated for the end of February or early March 2025

The Mahindra XEV 9e is finally here and we conducted a 0-100 km/h acceleration test in various modes. It comes with Range, Everyday and Race modes which, essentially, translate to Eco, Normal and Sport. Mahindra has entered the mass EV market with a slew of born-electric vehicles which use the dedicated INGLO platform to create global products. There will be two electric sub-brands henceforth – XEV and BE. Currently, the Indian auto giant has showcased the XEV 9e and BE 6e. Let us take a look at the details of this acceleration contest.

As soon as we got our hands on the new electric coupe, we were eager to test out its acceleration on an open stretch of road. We engaged all the drive modes to analyse how the performance changes. It is critical to mention that there is a clear distinction between various modes. In the Range (Eco) mode, we were able to clock 100 km/h speed from a standstill in 11.18 seconds. However, things changed drastically in the other two modes. In the Everyday (Normal) mode, the same performance was achieved in a substantially lower 8.04 seconds. This marks an over 3-sec improvement from the Range mode. Finally, the XEV 9e’s Race (Sport) mode channelled the full capabilities of the powertrain to demonstrate an acceleration time of just 7.18 seconds. These are impressive numbers for a bulky and large electric SUV.

Mahindra XEV 9e – Specs and Price

The Mahindra XEV 9e is available with two LFP (Lithium-iron phosphate) battery pack options – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. On the WLTP cycle, Mahindra claims a range of 533 km and 656 km on a single charge, respectively. The Indian auto giant even says that the real-world number would be over 500 km. To juice up these batteries, it would take just 20 minutes from 20% to 80% using a 175 kW DC fast charger. It comes with something Mahindra calls a ‘three-in-one powertrain’. This includes a motor, inverter and transmission.

The result is an impressive 286 hp and 380 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively with the larger battery pack. With the smaller unit, this number decreases slightly to 231 hp, while the torque remains the same. At the moment, the XEV 9e is offered in a single-motor RWD configuration but we can expect the dual-motor AWD version to join the lineup at a later stage. The claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time is a whopping 6.7 seconds. It gets all four disc brakes and a brake-by-wire system resulting in a stopping distance of 40 m from 100 km/h. Currently, the base model boasts an introductory price of Rs 21.90 lakh, ex-showroom (without the charger). The details of the entire price range will be out at the Bharat Auto Expo in the coming January.
