MG Windsor Pro vs Tata Nexon EV Max Specs Features Price Comparison

MG has recently launched its Windsor Pro, the top-of-the-line variant, which comes with tons of new-age amenities

In this post, we are comparing the MG Windsor Pro and Tata Nexon EV Max in terms of specs, prices and features. Note that these two are the top models of both vehicles. On the one hand, we have the Windsor, which has achieved immense success in our market ever since its launch in September last year (2024). In fact, it became the best-selling EV in the country. On the other hand, the Nexon EV boasts the largest EV share in the Indian market for a long time. Therefore, it will be interesting to compare the two thoroughly.

MG Windsor Pro vs Tata Nexon EV Max – Specs

The MG Windsor Pro comes with a 52.9 kWh Prismatic Cell battery with a claimed range of 449 km on a single charge. It powers the electric motor to generate a healthy 136 PS and 200 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. With a 60 kW DC fast charger, it takes 50 minutes to go from 20% to 80%. There are disc brakes at the front and rear. Note that the lower trims make the same power and torque but draw power from a smaller 38 kWh battery pack. The ground clearance is a decent 186 mm and the boot space is 579 litre, while the wheelbase is 2,700 mm.

On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV Max uses a 40.5 kWh battery pack in the Long Range avatar. The regular model gets a 30.2 kWh battery called the Medium Range trim. With the bigger battery, the Indian auto giant claims a range of 465 km on a single charge. The power and torque figures are 143 hp and 215 Nm, respectively. With a DC fast charger, the battery goes from 10% to 100% in 56 minutes. Therefore, the Nexon EV is certainly the more powerful of the two and even has a better claimed range.

MG Windsor Pro vs Tata Nexon EV Max – Price

Let us now move on to the most important aspect, the price. We know, in a price-conscious country like India, this factor plays the deciding role as to which vehicle the buyers will opt for. The MG Windsor Pro starts at Rs 12.50 lakh without the battery for the first 8,000 bookings. This will attract a monthly battery rental of Rs 4.5 per km. If you wish to buy it with the battery, the price is Rs 17.49 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV Max retails for Rs 16.99 lakh, ex-showroom.

My View

There is a real competition between these two compelling propositions. If you want the latest product, which has been developed as an electric car from scratch, the MG Windsor Pro makes a lot of sense. Also, it gives the buyers financial flexibility with its BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) strategy. Hence, you won’t have to pay the massive cost of the battery upfront. On the other hand, if you want something a bit more familiar, the Nexon EV is the one for you. In any case, you can’t go wrong with either of these. I would suggest our readers to experience both in the flesh before making a purchase decision.
