Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift Spotted

The outgoing premium electric crossover has done decently well on the sales charts ever since it was launched in India back in 2023

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift has finally been spotted in Chennai. It has been the most eminent EV for the Korean auto giant internationally. Many car experts and customers have really taken a liking to the E-GMP-based EV. In fact, it marks Hyundai’s dominance in this electric mobility era. Moreover, the global markets have even experienced the likes of the Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 9 based on the same platform. Perhaps, in the coming times, Hyundai might even bring these to India. For now, let us take a look at the facelift iteration of the EV.

As is visible in the images, the premium electric crossover is wrapped in heavy camouflage. That is something we come across often. Nevertheless, the silhouette of the EV gives away its true credentials. At the front, it retains the sleek rectangular LED headlamp setup along with a narrow panel connecting them. Still, we will most likely see a redesigned bumper. On the sides, there could be a new design for the aero alloy wheels to maximize efficiency. Similarly, the EV will embody a few tweaks to the tail section as well.

The details pertaining to the interior are scarce. Still, we know that the outgoing model comes with all the latest bells and whistles. In fact, Hyundai equips the Ioniq 5 with modern tech and convenience amenities to pamper the customers. As a result, we can expect the addition of new functionalities. Apart from that, the biggest change has to be the bigger 84 kWh battery pack in comparison to the 72.6 kWh battery at the moment. This is good for a range of 570 km on a single charge as per the WLTP cycle. We can expect a premium on the Rs 46.05 lakh price tag of the current model.

My View

The EV industry has been growing rapidly in India in the last couple of years. We see carmakers coming up with new models in just about every segment. Hence, people are more willing to take the plunge and add an EV to their garage. That is why Hyundai has already launched the Creta Electric to cater to the masses. Still, the Ioniq 5 represents the best it has to offer in India. We will know more about the EV in the coming weeks.
