The hardcore off-roading SUV, in 3-door guise, is about to entice loads of new buyers
The Mahindra Thar facelift is about to carry a lot of inspiration from its 5-door compatriot, the Thar Roxx. We know that Thar holds an iconic status in India. It has been the most successful off-roading SUV in the country for decades. In fact, that is what led to the creation of its more practical 5-door iteration, which went on to achieve incredible sales milestones. Since the Thar Roxx was modern and embodied numerous updates on the outside, inside and underneath the bonnet, it is time for the Thar facelift to borrow some of those aspects as well. Let us see what the spy images showcase.
Mahindra Thar Facelift To Borrow Elements From Thar Roxx
We were able to get the specifics of this case courtesy of TeamBHP and Motorbeam on Instagram. The visuals capture a semi-camouflaged iteration of the upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift. At the front, we are able to recognize the similarity with the Thar Roxx. This includes round LED headlamps, a redesigned grille, a new bumper, etc. While these are not totally different from the existing model, they will be enough to distinguish the two. At the rear, there are barely any new additions, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Apart from the exterior styling, the spy images even capture some glimpses of the cabin. We experience black interiors along with a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment screen, a chunky steering wheel, large round AC vents, comfortable seats, grab handles on the A-pillars and rugged door panels. Just like the existing Thar, the facelift version will definitely carry all the new-age tech and convenience functionalities to pamper the occupants.
Specs
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Mahindra Thar facelift comes with any mechanical alterations. We know that the Thar Roxx gets a modified platform and powerful mills. Nevertheless, the current iteration of the Thar already possesses a rugged platform and potent petrol and diesel mills. These engines pair with manual and automatic transmissions along with dedicated 4×4 capabilities in higher trims. We expect these powertrains to propel the facelift guise too. At present, the Thar retails between Rs 13.88 lakh and Rs 21.23 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelifted Thar will bear a slight premium over these prices.
