Mahindra Thar Roxx Driver Shows Mistakes While Using 4WD

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is one of the most capable off-roading SUVs in the market at this price point

This latest post deals with the peculiarities of using the 4WD system in the Mahindra Thar Roxx. Even though this video might only talk about the Thar Roxx, these are general practices that anyone can follow with any 4WD vehicle. Thar Roxx gained immense popularity in our market ever since its launch last year. People have flocked to buy it. Being a much more practical offering than the 3-door version, thousands of people have purchased it. For now, let us take a look at the details of how to use the SUV in the best possible manner.

Common Mistakes with Mahindra Thar Roxx 4WD

The specifics of this case stem from Mechanical Jugadu on YouTube. The host has the Thar Roxx 4×4 with him at an isolated location on a dirt track. There are three configurations to choose from – 2H, 4H and 4L. Firstly, he demonstrates how to engage 4×4. This is critical since many newbies don’t know about it and often end up engaging 4L during motion, which could lead to mechanical complications. Most of the time, for highway rides and everyday usage, you should keep the SUV in 2H.

When you go for 4H, all four wheels receive power from the engine. This is needed to traverse across treacherous terrains where traction is an issue. Therefore, any tyre which has some grip is able to pull the car out. However, if things get way more challenging, you must go for 4L with a differential lock. In this manner, the front and rear wheels are locked, and they move with each other. Hence, any tyre which has traction can pull the other tyre with it, and the vehicle is able to come out of any tough situation with relative ease. If these practices are not followed, you can easily damage the differential locks, transfer case or other components.

My View

As the trend of off-roading becomes more popular, it becomes essential to learn how to drive vehicles off-tarmac with confidence. Modern cars have tons of new-age amenities and capabilities. However, one must be willing to dedicate some time to know all about it so that you can make the best use of it. I hope this video will help people understand the working of the 4×4 system. Make sure to circulate this post around with your friends who have 4×4 SUVs.
