The electric iteration of the popular 3-row SUV marks a new phase for the Korean auto giant in India
The new Kia Carens Clavis EV has finally been showcased courtesy of a teaser ahead of the official launch on July 15, 2025. Note that it will be the first mass-market three-row EV in the country. Furthermore, this marks the first made-in-India EV for Kia. The existing EV6 and EV9 are fully imported products. Therefore, the Korean auto giant aims to take things to the next level with the electric avatar of the recently launched Carens Clavis EV. Let us glance at the details of the new electric car.
New Kia Carens Clavis EV Teased
This official teaser from Kia highlights the exterior and interior of the Carens Clavis EV. As expected, there aren’t all that many changes to the styling in comparison to its ICE counterpart. That is a trend we have seen with many carmakers. Hence, it bears a modern design language with striking LED DRLs and sleek LED headlamps along with a sealed-off grille area at the front. What’s new is the charging socket located on the grille, along with new fog lamps on the bumper below. On the sides, it gets the new aero alloy wheels, which are different from the ICE version. All other bits remain mostly the same.
A similar trend follows on the inside as well. The overall cabin layout and amenities are identical to the regular Carens Clavis. However, since it is an EV, there is no gear lever, which liberates some additional storage space. Going by what the ICE guise offers, the top highlights will include things like 26.62-inch Dual Panoramic Display Panel (Infotainment and Driver’s Instrument Cluster), Level 2 ADAS with 20 Autonomous Features, Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof, Sliding and Reclining Function for Second Row, Front Ventilated Seats, Smart Key-enabled All Windows Up/Down Function and more.
Expected Specs
While there has been no official announcement regarding the specifications, we can expect it to borrow the battery pack options from the Hyundai Creta Electric. This could incorporate 41 kWh and 51.4 kWh batteries. The teaser confirms a driving range of 490 km on a single charge. This will most likely be with the larger battery. Just like the Creta Electric, it will most likely boast Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities to power external appliances or other EVs. More details will emerge at the launch.
