Kia Carens Clavis New Variant

The Kia Carens Clavis is available with electric and ICE options to cater to a wide range of potential customers

The Kia Carens Clavis (ICE) is now on sale with a new feature-rich HTE (EX) variant to make the lineup more accessible to more customers. In addition to that, the sunroof will now be on offer with the G1.5 range for the first time. We know that having the option of added trims allows customers to choose the right version of a car for themselves according to their needs. Carens has performed decently on the sales charts on account of being a well-rounded package. For now, let us take a look at the details here.

Kia Carens Clavis Gets New HTE (EX) Variant

The new HTE (EX) trim of the Kia Carens Clavis (ICE) gets a sky light electric sunroof, fully automatic temperature control (FATC), LED DRLs and position lamps, LED cabin lamps for improved interior illumination, an auto up/down driver-side power window, etc. These features enhance the ownership experience quite a bit, even without opting for the higher trims. With this, the sunroof becomes a key amenity with the G1.5 powertrain for the very first time in the Carens Clavis range. This new trim is available with G1.5 petrol, G1.5 turbo petrol and D1.5 diesel in a 7-seat configuration.

The new Kia Carens Clavis HTE (EX) lineup starts at Rs 12.55 lakh for the G1.5 petrol, Rs 13.42 lakh for the G1.5 turbo petrol and Rs 14.53 lakh for the D1.5 diesel. All these prices are ex-showroom. The powertrain options include a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates a familiar 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol mill, which churns out an impressive 160 PS and 253 Nm or a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces a healthy 116 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties is a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT and a torque converter automatic gearbox. The prices range between Rs 11.08 lakh and Rs 20.71 lakh, ex-showroom.

Having closely tracked buyer behaviour in the Indian MPV space for years, this move from Kia makes absolute sense. Features like a sunroof are no longer premium indulgences but strong purchase triggers, even in the mass-market segment. By introducing the HTE (EX) variant and extending the sunroof to the G1.5 range, Kia is clearly sharpening the Carens Clavis’ value proposition against rivals. This is a smart, market-led update that should further strengthen Carens’ already solid demand curve.
