Mahindra Thar Roxx has done immensely well on the sales charts in our market ever since its launch back in 2024
Mahindra has officially teased a new avatar, or a potential minor facelift for the Thar Roxx. Thar Roxx is among the most popular off-roading SUVs in the country. It has carried forward the legacy associated with the Thar moniker of being the hardcore budget off-roading machine. The addition of two doors makes the 5-door Thar incredibly practical, even for everyday use or long weekend trips with family. Even though the SUV has been doing great on the sales charts, the Indian auto giant is preparing something intriguing.
New Version of Mahindra Thar Roxx Teased
The official teaser from Mahindra is quite vague, which is what teasers are meant to be. We see a man approach the parked SUV with round LED DRLs. These are something we recognize from the existing Thar Roxx. The text in the video reads, “The spotlight has found its star. Coming soon.” Clearly, it looks like something is brewing in Mahindra’s camp. This might be a new edition of the Thar Roxx, or a slightly updated iteration. In any case, it will be interesting to see what the homegrown car marque comes up with.
Apart from that, the Thar Roxx will most likely continue to carry the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol or a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel mill with manual and automatic transmission options. However, some rumours suggest that the teaser vehicle could also be the one that gets the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine like we have on the RWD 3-door Thar. If that comes out to be true, we will see the entry-level Thar Roxx with an incredibly aggressive starting price. In any case, we shall have to wait to know the exact details. With the kind of marketing strategy Mahindra uses with its content, we will most likely keep getting tiny glimpses of this vehicle in subsequent social media posts in the coming days.

Having tracked Mahindra’s product and marketing playbook for well over a decade, this teaser feels less like a cosmetic refresh and more like a strategic move to further widen the Thar Roxx’s appeal. The 5-door Thar has already cracked the sweet spot between lifestyle and practicality, and Mahindra knows there’s still headroom to grow volumes. If the rumoured 1.5-litre diesel makes it to the Roxx, it could be a masterstroke for aggressive pricing in a value-sensitive Indian market. Either way, Mahindra clearly isn’t done milking the Thar brand just yet, and the timing couldn’t be better.
