Mahindra is expected to showcase the U321 MPV at the 2018 Auto Expo.

Mahindra and Mahindra has been developing an MPV codenamed U321 and the same has been spied numerous times. Otherwise absent in the category, Mahindra is planning to pitch the upcoming product against the Toyota Innova and one can expect similar features and interior space. The company has not released any official information regarding the product but our friends at Autocar India have produced a rendering of the U321 MPV based on the spy images.

Mahindra U321 MPV Launch Price

Our sources claim that Mahindra will price the upcoming MPV in the INR 10-15 lakh price range putting it in a rather sweet spot. This price range will enable the company to target multiple products with the initial variants targeting rivals like Maruti Suzuki Etriga and the higher variants will compete with the likes of the Toyota Innova.

Mahindra U321 MPV – Exterior Details

The U321 will be the first product from Mahindra’s stable to feature a monocoque chassis and is expected to be vastly different to that of body-on-frame chassis of the Xylo. According to the spy pics we’ve compiled over time, it is evident that the MPV will feature a relatively low-set cabin for easy ingress-egress and the large windows will provide the cabin with an airy feel. The U321 is expected to have a sloping bonnet followed by large headlight housing projector headlamps for better illumination. The front grille will follow Mahindra’s toothy seven-slat design and 16-inch alloy wheels. Finally, the boot lid gets a top hinge and extends to the rear bumper for easy loading and the taillights are fashionably high-set.

Mahindra U321 MPV – Interior Details

The upcoming MPV from Mahindra is expected to feature three rows of seating. The seating configuration will be available in two options i.e. 7 and 8 seaters with the former getting second-row captain seats. Spy pictures reveal a completely black interior with abundant use of gloss black and chrome to enhance the cabin’s appeal. The dashboard’s layout and design are conventional yet practical and will house a large touchscreen similar to that of the XUV 500. The infotainment system will offer various connectivity options including Android Auto with mirror link capability. Automatic climate control is said to be featured on the higher trims with air-con vents available for all three rows for more efficient cooling.
