As Toyota gears up for the upcoming Auto Expo 2018, our friends at GaadiWaadi somehow got their hands on the upcoming mid-size sedan, the Vios. The Toyota Vios is also known as Yaris Ativ in certain markets. The upcoming sedan is a global yet flexible product from the manufacturer. Toyota’s customers have long been awaiting the launch of the Vios in India and look like the upcoming Auto Expo 2018 will mark an end to their wait. The pictures seem to come from a dealer/investor event that usually takes place before the official launch of any product. The pictures seem to be of low quality and offer a limited view of the upcoming sedan. Still, the images confirm that the Vios will be available in India soon.

2018 Toyota Vios India Launch Price
The upcomingย 2018 Toyota Vios is expected a launch sometime in April this year. The mid-size sedan will be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo giving its customers a teaser right before the official launch. We expect Toyota to price the Vios ranging between INR 9 to 12 lakh. Upon launch, the Toyota Vios will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
2018 Toyota Vios Specifications
The upcomingย 2018 Toyota Vios is the same vehicle that was launched last year in Thailand as the Toyota Yaris Ativ. The mid-size sedan measures 4,425mm in length, 1,730mm in width an 1,475mm in height. The Vios holds a wheelbase of 2,550mm and offers a ground clearance of 133mm. Toyota might offer higher ground clearance for the India spec model. The Japanese manufacturer currently offers 1.2, 1.3 and 1.5-litre petrol engine options in the ASEAN markets.
The upcomingย 2018 Toyota Vios is likely to host the 1.5-liter petrol engine that churns out 105 hp and 140 Nm of torque. The company is expected to offer a 5-speed transmission in the lower models and a continuously variable transmission in the top end trim. Toyota is yet to finalise the diesel engine option for the upcoming sedan. We expect the Vios to borrow the 1.4-litre diesel engine from the Corolla. The 1.4-litre diesel unit is good for 88 PS of power and 205 Nm of torque.

The most striking feature of the upcoming 2018 Toyota Vios is the elongated headlights. The headlights stretch all the way from the grille to the A-pillar. Considering the driving style specifically in North India, we fear the mentainance cost would be higher as the headlight is a rather costly and one of the most important features of any vehicle. Projector headlamps with LED light guides, LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy-wheels, tail light with LED guide, shark fin antenna, keyless entry and ignition are some of the exterior features of the upcoming Toyota Vios.

The upcomingย 2018 Toyota Vios features dual-tone beige & black interiors. The rear seat features an armrest and ac vents for rear passengers. The automatic climate control and the touchscreen infotainment system are the jewels of the dashboard. The spy shot shared above clearly indicates the vehicle being a top-end trim with the CVT transmission.
