Siddharth Lal, CEO of Royal Enfield has confirmed that no new bikes will be built on Royal Enfield’s 650 Twins platform for the next two years. The plans have been stalled due to upcoming emission norms.ย
There were various speculations suggesting that Royal Enfield might use the platform of 650 Twins to make more bikes. Rumoured model styles included a Scrambler and an Adventure bike.
However, Siddhartha Lal, CEO of RE, has confirmed that as of now, no new bikes will be produced from that platform. After 2 years, RE might consider the production and other decisions.
Due to the upcoming BS-6 norms, the process has been stalled. Upcoming emission norms are scheduled to kick in from April 2020.

RE recently launched Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 in India. However, the 650cc parallel twin-cylinder engine is not BS-6 compliant as of now. Rumours suggest that it has started testing BS-6 compliant engines, which might include the new 650cc engine.
As per online reports, RE plans to launch new motorcycles over 4 platforms by 2023. Some of the bikes are aimed above 650cc. It plans to enter the premium motorcycle demand above 650cc to take on Harley Davidson and Triumph.
J Platform will spawn the updated version of Classic, Thunderbird, Bullet and Himalayan. 650 Twins are built on P Platform. The remaining Q and K platform will spawn bikes over 650cc.
Royal Enfield unveiled an 838cc Bobber motorcycle at EICMA 2018. The bobber uses a twin-cylinder 838cc engine, which will be the most powerful once it comes into production.

Rumours suggest that it might introduce a Scrambler, a Flat Track Racer or a higher powered ADV bike (more powerful Himalayan). As of now, there are no confirmed details.
RE 650 Twins have been just launched in India. GT 650 is a retro-styled cafe racer and Interceptor is a classic roadster bike. Both the bikes look very similar with the major difference in the riding position. Suspension, chassis and brakes are shared by both the bikes.
The 650cc twin-cylinder engine produces 47 BHP and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine pairs up with a 6-speed manual gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. The claimed mileage of the bike is around 25.5 Kmpl.

RE Interceptor 650 is priced at Rs 2.5 Lakhs going up to Rs 2.7 Lakhs. GT 650 starts at Rs 2.65 Lakhs going up to Rs 2.72 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices Delhi).
