NEW RENAULT CAPTUR IMAGE

New Renault Captur packs some tweaked taillights, new DRL’s and sits on new CMF-B platform.

Launched in 2017, Renault Captur gained likes because of its crossover design stance. But the SUV could not impress the Indian market and saw a decline of 77% in sales. Only 76 units of the car sold for the month of May’19 as compared to the 324 units sold on May’18. Now reports suggest that a new Renault Captur will be launched in the global market.

The spied facelifted model takes some design inspiration from the Clio hatchback and thus gets revised front bumpers and sports skid plates. Black plastic cladding will run throughout the car and flared wheel arches with raised ground clearance are some of the key highlights of the new Renault Captur.

It is not sure if the model will reach Indian shores as of now since the SUV is not even two years old. But if it happens to come then it will take design inspiration from the European spec model.

The interiors of the Captur will be borrowed from the Clio but with more cabin space. It might also get a revised touchscreen infotainment unit with tweaked dashboard design, restyled steering wheel and more. It is based on the new CMF-B platform.

Currently, Renault Captur is available in 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The naturally aspirated petrol motor churns out 105 bhp with 142 Nm of peak torque while the turbocharged diesel generates 109 bhp with 240 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed manual transmission respectively.

Renault Captur gets automatic climate control, a large infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and Voice recognition. It also gets the latest infinity instrument cluster. Safety features include ABS with EBD and ESC, Brake Assist, Hill start assist and four airbags.

The prices of this SUV starts at Rs 9.50 lakh for the base trim and goes up to Rs 13.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Renault Captur above Duster and competes with the likes of Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Creta.
