Renault Triber has been unveiled in India, for us and the global markets as well. It is basically an extended version of Kwid and also a 7-seater car.

Renault has taken the covers off its upcoming car, Triber. The 7-seater car has been unveiled in India, which will also come for the global markets. No, it’s not an MPV, but an extended hatchback.

If you look closely, it seems to be very similar to the Kwid. The styling is also similar to the Kwid, its just the addition of the third row of the seat that differentiates it. Triber sits on the CMF-A platform, which is a modified version of Kwid’s platform.

At the front, you get a new Renault Grille in chrome, flanked by projector headlamps at both sides. The indicators are put on the side body cladding and not on the ORVMs.

Triber further gets roof rails, an upright stance with 15-inch alloy wheels and a compact tail, which gives it a mild SUV stance. The car surely looks more premium than the Kwid.

Renault Triber will come with a 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces 72 BHP and 96 NM of peak torque. Actually, it is the upgraded version of Kwid’s engine and is also used in global models like Clio.

At the time of launch, the Triber will only come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the option of a 5-speed AMT as well. It could get a turbocharged 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine as well, in the near future.

Safety features onboard include dual airbags, ABS< rear parking sensors and speed warning system as standard. The top-end variants will get rear parking camera and two more airbags.
