Tata Nexon Gets New Features and a New Variant!

Tata has updated the Nexon with a 7.0-inch touchscreen available on the middle and top trim along with a new XT+ variant that gets new features over the previous XT variant.

In the face of rising competition, Tata Motors have given the Nexon compact SUV another set of updates with some additional new features. The Tata Nexon now gets a larger 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the previous 6.5-inch unit. It will be available on the XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ variants of the Nexon.

Tata Motors have also introduced a new variant called the Nexon XT+ which replaces the previous Nexon XT. The Tata Nexon XT+ variant is priced Rs. 7,000 more than the previous XT on account of additional new features. It has been priced at Rs 8.02 lakh for the petrol and Rs 8.87 lakh for the diesel.

The XT+ variant sees the addition of several important features which includes daytime running lamps (DRLs), projector headlamps, 8-speaker sound system with USB/AUX/Bluetooth, a height adjustable driver’s seat, front fog lamps and rear AC vents.ย  However, it misses out on an automatic climate control and the shark fin antenna.

The Tata Nexon continues to be powered by a set of 1.2L, turbo petrol and 1.5L, diesel engine options. The petrol engine produces 108 bhp and 170Nm of peak torque while the oil burner produces similar power but 260Nm of torque. There’s either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT on offer. The Tata Nexon is also one of the few SUVs in the segment to offer an automatic gearbox with a diesel engine.

The Tata Nexon is due a heavy makeover that is expected to arrive early next year. With the upcoming facelift, the Nexon will see major exterior and interior cosmetic changes along with the introduction of the BS-VI engine. Tata Motors have also confirmed that they are developing an electrified version of the Nexon as well. The Nexon sits is the highl competitive segment of compact SUVs and rivals the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra’s XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue.
