Over 40,000 Maruti WagonR 1.0 Litre Petrol Models Recalled In India

The 1.0 Litre petrol variants of the Maruti WagonR have been recalled due to a possible issue related to the fuel hose and the owners will be notified soon.

Maruti has announced a voluntarily recalled 40,618 WagonR 1.0 Litre models manufacturer between 15th November 2018 to 12th August 2019. This particular campaign has been undertaken globally as well.

The company states that the Maruti WagonR has been recalled due to a possible issue of fuel hose fouling with metal clamp. From 24th August, the dealerships will call the owners of the car manufactured between these dates. Further, the cars will be inspected and if found, the faulty parts will be replaced free of cost.

The customers can also check if their vehicle is affected by this recall. The customers can enter their chassis number at the Important Customer Info tab on the company’s website.

The new WagonR was launched in January this year, so the older-generation models will also be affected. The earlier version only came with the 1.0 Litre petrol engine, whereas the new one comes with the 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine as well.

The new Maruti WagonR gets many features like a touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Steering Mounted Audio Controls, small MID, electric ORVMs, and more powerful headlamps.

Safety features onboard include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Rear Parking Sensors, Speed Alert System, Front Seat Passenger Seat Belt Reminder, but misses out on a rear parking camera. The latest version is one of the most-feature equipped in its segment.

The new 1.2 Litre petrol engine is also found on Celerio, Dzire and even the Baleno. The engine produces 82 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque, with the engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and Maruti’s AGS (AMT) transmission.

With the new prices starting from Rs 4.34 Lakhs, up to Rs 5.91 Lakhs (ex-showroom), the Maruti WagonR takes on the likes of Hyundai Santro, Renault Kwid and Datsun GO.
