New Honda Amaze CVT vs Maruti Dzire AMT Acceleration Test

Even though compact sedans are not meant for straight-out acceleration, it is intriguing to witness how quick they are

In this post, I shall reveal the test results of the 0-100 km/h acceleration test results of the new Honda Amaze CVT and Maruti Dzire AMT. The Japanese carmaker launched the 3rd-generation avatar of the Amaze in our market recently. It bears cosmetic alterations along with the addition of new-age amenities to pamper the customers. Note that the Maruti Dzire, its direct competitor, was also launched in its 4th-generation version a few weeks ago. Hence, both these are immensely popular in this segment. Let us compare how quick these are in their automatic guises. 8091410300

Acceleration Test of New Honda Amaze CVT vs Maruti Dzire AMT

As a part of the media drive, we got the opportunity to put the new Honda Amaze to the test. Note that we compared the 0-100 km/h acceleration time of the Amaze CVT and Dzire AMT because these are the automatic variants on offer. Firstly, we drove the new Amaze. It was able to clock the 0-100 km/h sprint in 16.01 seconds. Then we performed the same action with the Dzire AMT which achieved the same feat in 15.15 seconds. Hence, the AMT was a clear winner in this regard. However, I must also mention here that CVT is designed for the smooth operation and not outright acceleration. That explains these timings.

Specs and Price Comparison

In terms of the specifications, the new Honda Amaze comes with an E20-compatible 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill which is good for 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. Honda claims mileage figures of 18.65 km/l with the manual and 19.46 km/l with the automatic transmission. Apart from that, the sedan possesses a ground clearance of 172 mm which is enough to glide over most obstacles on Indian roads. It retails between Rs 8.09 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom.

On the other hand, the Maruti Dzire uses a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild hybrid technology which generates a healthy 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission alternatives include 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Maruti claims a class-leading mileage figure of 24.79 km/l with the manual and 25.71 km/l with the AMT. The prices start at Rs 6.79 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 10.14 lakh, ex-showroom.
