Airbags of Mahindra XUV700 Don’t Deploy

This video comes from Nikhil Rana on YouTube. This channel features content around the performances of popular cars during unfortunate incidents, as well as road safety. On this occasion, a case has emerged from Himachal Pradesh. As per the information in the video, the SUV was involved in a frontal collision. The condition of the vehicle is visible in the video visuals. The owner claims that he and his family were wearing seatbelts. However, the airbags did not deploy. That is a cause for concern. The family sustained some injuries in the absence of the airbags.

Looking at the condition of the vehicle, the front and side sections are affected. In fact, the vehicle is lying on the road on its side. Thankfully, the side pillars absorbed most of the impact and kept the occupants relatively safer. One could see the cabin intact. That is a testament to the build quality of the vehicle. However, what is concerning is the fact that the airbags didn’t open. While we can’t say anything for sure until full information is available to us. But these things should not happen. We hope that Mahindra will look into this matter and diagnose the issue.

The Mahindra XUV700 provides customers with a choice between two robust engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo petrol direct injection mStallion engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The turbo petrol engine delivers 200 hp and 380 Nm, while the mHawk diesel engine offers two variants โ€“ one with 155 hp and 360 Nm and another with 185 hp and 420 Nm of peak power and torque (450 Nm in the automatic version). These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Additionally, the higher-end models feature an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) version equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features. The Mahindra XUV700’s price range starts from Rs 14.01 lakh and goes up to Rs 26.18 lakh, ex-showroom.
