Nissan Ariya Spotted Testing in India

In a surprise of sorts, I just came across the spy media of Nissan Ariya electric SUV undergoing testing in India! Now, our country is among the largest automobile markets in the world. Meanwhile. electrification has been quite rampant. Therefore, more and more players are testing their EVs in our market. The future of the automobile industry is clearly electric. While there is still a lot of infrastructure to be established, people are getting warmed up to the idea of owning EVs. Now, Nissan is testing its iconic Ariya in India. Here are the details.

This post comes from carwaleindia on Instagram. It captures the entire visuals of the electric crossover. As is the case with the testing of most new cars, the silhouette is camouflaged. Still, the front and rear profiles, along with the side section, give away its identity to the keen-eyed observers. The rear section has sleek LED taillamps with a split setup, a roof-mounted spoiler and a sloping roofline. Other exterior bits include things like stylish alloy wheels, LED headlamps at the front with integrated LED DRLs and a large radiator grille area. I find the resemblance to the new international model quite impressive.

In its latest iteration, the Nissan Ariya comes with an 87 kWh Lithium-ion battery which sends power to two electric motors for an all-wheel drive system (e-4ORCE). This assembly produces 389 hp and 601 Nm of peak power and torque. This is the most aggressive configuration. The EV supports 130 kW DC fast charging. It has an electric range of 414 km. There are also single-motor 2WD configurations with a smaller battery pack. We are not sure which model will make it to our shores.

Ariya holds a prominent legacy in the international portfolio of the Japanese carmaker. It is entirely possible that it wants to leverage the popularity of the Ariya EV to make an entrance into our market. The electric car segments in India are becoming more and more popular with each passing day. As a result, more carmakers are introducing their products in this space. Nissan would also like to test the waters. And what better way to do it than to bring one of its most successful cars into this space. Let us keep a close eye on the details of this development.
