Aston Martin Debuts Apple CarPlay Ultra
Aston Martin is now the first carmaker in the world to offer Apple CarPlay Ultra. This system builds on the current version of CarPlay by adding more features and deeper integration with the car. CarPlay Ultra shows information on both the main infotainment screen and the instrument cluster. It allows drivers to control maps, music, radio, and climate settings using the touchscreen, physical buttons, or Siri. The interface is familiar to iPhone users, with options to customize the layout, colours, and wallpapers. Drivers can also choose different speedometer and tachometer styles.
The system is now available on new Aston Martin models in the U.S. and Canada. It comes standard on new orders of the DBX SUV and core sports cars such as the Vantage and DB12. It will roll out as a software update to existing models equipped with Aston Martin’s latest infotainment system. This next-generation system was first introduced in the DB12 in 2023. Developed in-house by Aston Martin, it features a 10.25” Pure Black touchscreen with support for gestures and traditional controls for essential functions like drive mode, heating, and ventilation.
By working closely with Apple, Aston Martin has made sure CarPlay Ultra fits the brand’s style and functionality. The system also allows drivers to add widgets from their iPhone to the infotainment screen or instrument cluster. CarPlay Ultra requires an iPhone 12 or newer, running iOS 18.54 or later. It will be offered in other regions over the next year. Existing owners in the U.S. and Canada can expect the update soon through Aston Martin dealers.
