Ather 340 and 450 to be available in Chennai from June

Ather Energy has confirmed that it will spread out its reach to Chennai in June 2019. The public charging infrastructure is under installation.

Ather Energy has started working on spreading its network across the country. The second city on the manufacturer’s list is Chennai. It will launch its operation in the city in June 2019.

Ather 340 and 450 will be available in Chennai, along with the public charging stations just like in Bangalore. Ather Grid will be installed across cafes, malls, tech-parks, gyms and more.

For encouraging the use of EVs in different cities, it is also offering 6 months of free charging at Ather Grid public charging points. In Bangalore, there are 24 charging stations and 31 charging points till now.

Meanwhile, the Ather 450 is sold out till September 2019. It has received an overwhelming response in the city, as many users have already clocked over 2000 kms on the scooter.

The manufacturer has opened early access privilege to Chennaites for pre-booking their scooters. It will provide the buyers with priority deliveries and invites to exclusive events and rides.

Ather 450 uses a 2.4 kWh battery pack, that somewhat delivers 7.4 BHP and 20.5 Nm of peak torque. The top speed achievable here is 80 kmph.

It is now available with ‘Sport’ and ‘Ride’ modes, with another mode reportedly under development. The ride mode offers 65 kms range, whereas the sport mode offers 55 kms. The upcoming mode might deliver up to 75 km range.

Features onboard include, Over the Air Updates (OTA), Reverse Gear, LED headlamps, Google Maps navigation, Sim card tray, 7-inch touchscreen tablet with an IP65 rating (Waterproof). It shows information such as distance to empty, remaining battery, etc.

The fast charger charges the scooter from 0-80% in 2 hours and 40 minutes. On a public charger, the same can be achieved within 50 minutes, which is chargeable.
