In a shocking turn of events, a BMW Z4 was reported stolen from the car parking of Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian restaurant. Shilpa Shetty is one of the biggest movie stars in our country. She loves to splurge on ostentatious automobiles. In recent years, she has ventured into entrepreneurship as well. As a part of that, she has invested across asset classes and businesses. Her Bastian restaurant in Dadar, Mumbai, is a perfect example of that. It is a high-end premium fine dining restaurant. In fact, many celebrities often visit it. For now, let us take a look at the specifics of this latest incident at the restaurant parking.
BMW Z4 Stolen From Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian Restaurant
The latest news reports inform that a prominent businessman Ruhan Khan, 34, arrived at the Bastian restaurant with his friends at around 1 AM. He handed over the keys of his BMW Z4 to the valet and went inside. After partying until about 3 AM, he came back and asked the valet to get his car out of the parking garage. To his utter disbelief, he was told that the vehicle had been stolen. Alarmed by the situation, he immediately filed an FIR at the Shivaji Park Police Station. The was registered under section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
As a part of the investigation, the Police browsed through the CCTV footage of the parking lot. Here, interesting details emerged. Just minutes after the valet parked the car at its post, two people arrived in a Jeep Compass. They hacked the electronics of the Z4 and were able to unlock and start it. Within a matter of minutes, they successfully drove away the vehicle. Now, the Police are searching CCTV footage from the nearby areas to trace the location of the car. Understandably, Ruhan Khan questioned the security measures in place by the restaurant. Shilpa Shetty has not commented on this matter.
My View
I must admit it is quite shocking to see such an incident at a posh location. This is an alarming situation where miscreants are able to get away with such a theft. I can only hope that the Police are able to perform a thorough and effective investigation to catch the culprit before the vehicle is dismantled or sold. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
