New Hyundai Venue NCAP Safety Rating

New Hyundai Venue NCAP Safety Rating

The new-gen model boasts tons of modern amenities, including Level 2 ADAS and more

The new Hyundai Venue will be an interesting case at the NCAP testing with all the passive and active safety equipment it comes with. The compact SUV has already been launched for our market. It has been a resounding success in India’s compact SUV segment since its debut in 2019. Even in one of the most fiercely contested categories, it has managed to maintain strong sales and a loyal customer base. Now, with the upcoming new-generation model, Hyundai is set to spice things up further by packing in a host of additional features and creature comforts. The introductory prices start at Rs 7.90 lakh and go up to Rs 15.51 lakh, ex-showroom.

Will New Hyundai Venue Score 5 Stars at NCAP?

Even though the actual result will only be clear after the NCAP test, I would like to discuss the kind of safety measures Hyundai has taken with this new-gen model to ensure a high rating. For starters, the new Venue gets 71% high-strength steel, which is more than the outgoing model. In addition to that, the other prominent safety highlights include Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, 16 advanced driver assistance systems, all 4 disc brakes, 6 airbags as standard, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, ESP, etc. Combining all these aspects might result in a high safety rating. We shall have to wait for the NCAP to announce the final rating.

New-Gen Hyundai Venue

The new Venue is certainly looking immensely promising with the new-age in-cabin functionalities. These are bound to attract new customers. That has been Hyundai’s strength for the longest time. Some of the main attractions of the new Venue are:

  • Dual 12.3-inch curved displays (one for driver’s instrument cluster and one for ccNC infotainment powered by NVIDIA)
  • Dual-tone leather seats with Venue branding
  • Height adjustable headrests for front and rear
  • 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat
  • Rear sunshades and rear AC vents
  • Reclining rear seats
  • Ambient lighting
  • Improved headroom and shoulder room
  • Wireless smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto)
  • Bose premium 8-speaker audio system
  • Voice recognition (400 Commands in 5 languages)
  • Hyundai Bluelink Connected Car Tech (70 features)
  • Controller Over-the-Air (OTA) Updates
  • Built-in JioSaavn app
  • Voice-enabled electric sunroof
  • Drive modes – Eco, Normal, Sport
  • Traction control modes – Sand, Mud, Snow
  • Smart Key
  • Electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs
  • 4 USB Type-C ports
  • Glovebox cooling
  • Tilt steering wheel adjustment
  • Rear wiper and washer
  • Rear centre armrest with cup holders

Specs

The new Venue retains its familiar powertrain options – a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. These generate a familiar 83 PS / 114.7 Nm, 120 PS / 172 Nm and 116 PS / 250 Nm, of peak power and torque respectively. Performing the transmission duties are 5-speed manual with NA petrol, a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT with turbo petrol and a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with the diesel. This will ensure that buyers have ample flexibility when choosing their preferred drivetrain setup. The N-Line iteration uses the same turbo petrol mill with same gearbox options as the regular model.

Editor’s Note

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

Having closely tracked Hyundai’s approach to safety evolution in India, I believe the new Venue represents a major step forward for the brand. With its robust structure, extensive use of high-strength steel, and the inclusion of Level 2 ADAS, Hyundai clearly aims to position the Venue as one of the safest compact SUVs in its class. However, as we’ve seen before, features alone don’t guarantee a 5-star NCAP rating – real-world crash performance will be the true test of Hyundai’s engineering progress.
