New 2025 Hyundai Venue Diesel vs Tata Nexon Diesel Comparison

The new-gen Hyundai Venue has been launched with tons of new-age amenities

In this post, we compare the 2025 Hyundai Venue diesel with the Tata Nexon diesel. Venue and Nexon belong to the mighty competitive compact SUV segment in India. This has been growing rapidly in the past few years. These vehicles strike a great balance between the entry level cars and the more expensive SUVs. Considering India’s challenging road conditions, the SUV stance is inherently attractive for a vast majority of people. For now, let us compare the diesel trims of the Venue and Nexon.

2025 Hyundai Venue Diesel vs Tata Nexon Diesel – Price

The new Hyundai Venue comes in multiple new variants – HX 2, HX 4, HX 5, HX 6, HX 6T, HX 7, HX 8 and HX 10. The introductory prices commence from Rs 7.90 lakh for the HX 2 and go up to Rs 15.51 lakh, ex-showroom for the HX 10. The diesel trims range between Rs 9.70 lakh and Rs 15.51 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Nexon diesel range starts at Rs 9.01 lakh and goes up to Rs 14.05 lakh, ex-showroom.

2025 Hyundai Venue Diesel vs Tata Nexon Diesel – Specs

Let us commence with what powers these two SUVs. The new Venue continues to draw power from the 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill. Since we are discussing the diesel variants only, it will continue to produce 116 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. The NA petrol comes with a sole 5-speed manual, while the turbo petrol can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT and the turbo diesel mill can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. That will ensure that the buyers get all kinds of options to choose from while purchasing the new Venue.

On the other hand, even the Tata Nexon is available with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill. In the diesel avatar, the motor generates a decent 115 PS and 260 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing transmission duties are manual and automatic gearbox alternatives. Again, both these SUVs offer flexibility to the buyers in terms of going for the right engine-transmission combinations. Hence, there isn’t much to choose from in this regard.

Design and Dimensions

The new 2025 Hyundai Venue has been thoroughly updated when it comes to the exterior styling. At the front, the fascia is now more aggressive and imposing with elements like a massive grille, a sturdy skid plate, twin-horn LED DRLs, quad-beam LED headlamps, Horizon LED positioning lamp and much more. Moving down the sides reveals muscular wheel arches, functional roof rails, 16-inch diamond cut alloys, signature C-pillar garnish, etc. Similarly, the tail section is much more modern now with a connected LED strip running across the width of the SUV, rugged skid plate, sporty bumper, shark fin antenna and a tough appearance. More importantly, the new Venue is bigger than the outgoing model by 48 mm (in height), 30 mm (in width) and 20 mm (in wheelbase).

On the other hand, the Tata Nexon is a bold-looking SUV. That is something that has attracted tons of buyers over the last few years. At the front, it includes sharp LED DRLs near the hood line, a sleek black strip connecting them, a wide aggressive bumper, vertically positioned LED headlamps on the bumper and a durable skid plate. On the sides, there are sporty alloy wheels, roof rails and the familiar silhouette carried over from the pre-facelift version. At the rear, it houses a roof spoiler, a shark fin antenna, connected LED taillamps, a solid sporty bumper, vertical reflector elements on the far corners of the bumper and a strong skid plate. Overall, both these SUVs deliver a visually distinct character together.

My View

The new 2025 Hyundai Venue promises to be an all-rounder, a tag it has carried for the longest time. There are all sorts of powertrain and transmission options along with the latest tech, connectivity and convenience amenities. Correspondingly, the prices of the Venue are significantly higher than the Nexon. On the other hand, even the Nexon possesses all sorts of amenities to entice buyers. No wonder these two are among the highest-selling vehicles in this space. I would advise those who want the absolute latest tech and convenience amenities in their cars to go for the Venue. Having said that, the Nexon is a great value-for-money proposition too. At the end of the day, it all depends on your personal preference.

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

Having witnessed the explosive rise of India’s compact SUV segment firsthand, I can confidently say the diesel battle between Venue and Nexon is far from over. Hyundai’s bold design update and the rare diesel-automatic combo certainly give the new Venue fresh appeal. However, the Nexon continues to punch above its weight with features that buyers in this price band increasingly demand. Pricing will ultimately decide which direction the market swings and that’s the final piece of the puzzle we’re all waiting for.
