Mahindra XUV.e9 Boot Space Leaked

The Mahindra XUV.e9 will be the electric iteration of the XUV700 which is slated for launch by the end of next year.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV.e9 (Electric XUV700) was spied with an open boot compartment recently. Mahindra is planning an onslaught of its electric SUVs within the next 2 years. In fact, it had announced around 5-6 new electric SUVs. A couple of these will be based on the existing XUV700 SUV, while the others will utilize the bespoke electric architecture which Mahindra calls BE (Born Electric). Hence, in a couple of years, if everything goes according to the plan, we will have 5-6 electric SUVs from the Indian auto giant plying on our roads. For now, let us take a look at this latest case.

Boot Space of Mahindra XUV.e9 (Electric XUV700) Leaked

This post arrives from bunnypunia on Instagram. The visuals showcase the test mules parked in an open space. The drivers are seen covering the EVs with a body cover. Incidentally, one of the EVs has its boot opened completely. One could clearly see the entire compartment. It looks like a long boot with a relatively low loading lip. What is also evident is that the XUV.e9 will have a powered tailgate with electric closing at the push of a button. Apart from that, the tail section of the test mules highlights the coupe silhouette with a sloping roofline and a roof-mounted spoiler with bears a distinct dual-section layout.

In addition to an attractive exterior styling and demeanour, Mahindra will ensure that the interior remains the prime focus. We already know that the XUV700 is among the most feature-rich SUVs in its segment along with a premium cabin layout. I have no reason to expect anything less with the Mahindra XUV.e9 either. In fact, being the latest iteration, it will even have more convenience and connectivity amenities. Not to mention, Mahindra will offer tons of active and passive safety tech to make it one of the safest cars around. It could get a 60-80 kWh battery pack with 175 kW DC fast charging capabilities. Charing from 0 to 80% will take 30 mins. More details will emerge in the coming months.

Our View

Electric mobility is all the rage at the moment. While the demand has slowed down in the top markets like the U.S. and China, emerging nations like India are still at a nascent stage. Hence, there is still a long way to go before the growth in this segment peaks. In fact, we are only starting to get relatively affordable EVs from the likes of Tata Motors and Mahindra. Going forward, other carmakers will also join the fray and the landscape will look completely different within the next couple of years. We shall be following the updates in this regard.
