Our dealership sources confirmed that the bookings for BS6 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and GT 650 are open. The booking amount has been set for Rs 10,000.

Royal Enfield has commenced its BS6 launches with the Classic 350. Soon, it will also launch the new generations of Thunderbird and Bullet. However, the Himalayan and the 650 Twins will just get the updated engine and nothing else.

Ahead of that, our dealership sources suggest that most of the dealerships are exhausting their BS4 stocks. Unofficial bookings for the BS6 Royal Enfield Interceptor and GT 650 are now open at selective dealerships.

There is no confirmed date of launch yet, as the BS6 units have not started reaching dealerships yet. The booking amount has been set for Rs 10,000 or Rs 20,000, depending on the dealerships that you visit.

The 650 Twins and Himalayan have comparatively modern and better engines than the ageing 350cc ones. Both the bikes already get Fuel Injection as standard, which will make it easier to convert their engines to BS6 norms. As for the 350cc engine, it has undergone major revisions to be BS6 compliant.

BS6 Royal Enfield Interceptor and GT 650 will continue with their same 648cc air-cooled parallel-twin cylinder engine. The motor is capable of producing 47 BHP and 52 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The BS6 upgrade might change the power figures by a small difference.

With this, the prices of Interceptor and GT 650 will increase by a small margin. Currently, the INT starts off at Rs 2.55 Lakhs to Rs 2.76 Lakhs and the GT 650 from Rs 2.70 Lakhs to Rs 2.91 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom). Expect the prices to increase by atleast Rs 5,000.

Meanwhile, Royal Enfield is exploring options to use the platform and engine of the 650 Twins for new models. There were rumours of the Classic, Thunderbird and Himalayan getting this 650cc engine. We can see them taking shape soon.
