Currently, Datsun GO is one of the popular entry-level cars in India. It is priced similarly to the Alto K10 but gets a lot more features than that. The GO comes with Follow-me-home headlamps, Driver airbag as Standard, ABS and an infotainment system. Despite having many features, Datsun does not have a decent share of this market. Recently, the Datsun GO Facelift was showcased at GIIAS 2018. It gets more features than the current GO and is expected to launch in India this festive season. It gets a new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new dashboard design and much more. With the new features, it is expected to be priced starting from Rs 4 Lakhs onwards.
The Datsun GO comes with a 1.2 Litre Three-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces around 67 BHP of power and 104 Nm of torque. However, the Datsun GO Facelift will get the same engine but developed for more power up to 78 BHP. This engine will come paired to CVT along with the 5-speed Manual Transmission.
The Datsun GO Facelift gets some cosmetic changes as well as feature upgrades. On the exterior part of the hatchback, it gets vertically stacked LED DRLs, new radiator grille inserts, new headlamps clusters and a reshaped lower air intake. Also, it gets new electric ORVMs with turn indicators and a new set of 14-inch alloy wheels. At the rear end, it gets a rear washer and wiper too.
Improvement in the feature list includes a new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a lockable glove box, a refreshed instrument panel with tachometer and MID and a much better dashboard. Since there is a touchscreen infotainment system, it can also get a rear parking sensor with a camera. With these features, it surely gains leverage over the leader of this segment, the Alto K10.
Currently, the GO comes with features such as a semi-digital instrument cluster, USB port for charging, Front power windows, Speed sensitive electric power steering, gear shift guide, Speed Sensitive Wipers With Intermittent & Drop Wipe Function and Halogen Headlamps.
In terms of safety, the Datsun GO Facelift continues with Engine Immobilizer, Head Lamp Levelling Device, Central Locking and standard driver’s airbags. The Indonesian version still fails to give passenger airbags. However, the Indian version might get passenger airbags too.
We expect it to be priced starting from Rs 4 Lakhs onwards. Currently, the GO starts from Rs 3.38 Lakhs onwards. (ex-showroom prices). It currently, competes with Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Renault Kwid in the entry-level segment. It also competes with the lower variants of Tata Tiago, which goes up to 5.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
