Datsun India has confirmed that it will launch a Datsun SUV in India, which will be priced under Rs 10 Lakhs. It will launch in the first quarter of 2019. Reports suggest that the Datsun GO Cross, which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, could be the sub-4 metre Compact SUV from Datsun.
Datsun India has the GO, GO+ and the RediGO models in its India lineup. Despite providing decent features at a lesser price, these cars have failed to make much demand in the market. The GO is mostly used for cabs. Datsun gave its car an update, last in 2014, when they were launched. However, in this festive season, Datsun might launch the facelift versions of GO and GO+. Also, Datsun India has confirmed that it will launch a new Datsun SUV under Rs 10 Lakhs in the first quarter of 2019. Thomas Kuehl, president, Nissan India Operations, has confirmed the news to Autocar India. The upcoming car will be a sub-4 metre compact SUV with a rumoured crossover styling. Reports also suggest that the Datsun Cross could be the upcoming sub-4 metre compact SUV.

The upcoming SUV might be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform. This platform will also be seen in the upcoming Renault MPV in early 2019. The compact SUV will get RediGO’s 1.0 Litre Petrol engine, but it would be a turbocharged unit. The SUV will only come in the petrol variant. This model will be at the top of Datsun’s lineup in India.
Also, other news says that the GO and GO+ facelifts might launch in the festive season. Both the cars were launched in 2014 and still did not receive any update. You might see a new design styling like new alloys, LED DRLs and more. For features, it would get a new touchscreen infotainment, rear parking sensors, steering mounted controls and more. In the interiors, it might get rear power windows, power steering, a new mobile docking system and a USB port for charging. The idea will be to make it look more premium than the earlier version. For safety, both of them will get updates such as ABS and dual airbags, ESP and more.

Also, Datsun RediGO special edition is going to launch in this festive season. Datsun said that it will have a major event in every six months. The facelift version of the Datsun GO is expected to start from Rs 4 Lakhs and the MPV is expected to start from Rs 4.5 Lakhs.
