The diesel engine of Hyundai Verna comes in two different versions. One of them is a 1.4 litre diesel engine with 23.5 KMPL ARAI tested mileage and other one is a 1.6 Litre one with 22.3 KMPL mileage. Both engines produce impressive power and torque enough to make the Verna go for a Spin. However, the engine of Sunny is not that far behind in terms of specs, but Verna engine have an edge over Nissan’s engines.

In terms of handling and performance, the Sunny comes out to be a better car with slightly stiffer suspensions compared to Verna and does feel more confident at higher speeds when compared to Hyundai Verna Fluidic which does feel more comfortable with softer suspensions, but has a noticeable body roll.

Nissan Sunny Diesel XL Vs Hyundai Verna Fluidic 1.4 Diesel
Nissan Sunny Diesel XL model is priced at Rs. 11,000 lesser than the Verna diesel 1.4, but offers full safety features including dual airbags, ABS with EBD, speed sensing door locks, steering mounted audio controls, driver seat height adjust, rear seat comforting fan, automatic climate control with air filter, rear defogger. With all safety features in place, Sunny Diesel XL makes better choice compared to Verna Diesel 1.4 Litre. Although Hyundai does provide some plus points like more powerful and efficient engine, better looks, larger wheels, USB support in audio system, gear shift indicator and alternator management system etc., but lack of full safety features outweigh these advantages.
Nissan Sunny Diesel XV Vs Hyundai Verna Fluidic 1.6 Diesel
Nissan Sunny Diesel XV top end comes at Rs. 11,000 less than the 1.6 Litre Verna Diesel which is a much more powerful engine with 128 PS power and 265 Nm of torque. Apart from this, the Verna comes with only one driver side airbag, while Sunny has driver as well as passenger airbag, Sunny has more leg space at rear seat along with fans at middle. Both have automatic climate control. Verna offers ABS with EBD with all four disk brakes which is better than Sunny’s front disk and rear Drum brakes with ABS and EBD. Verna also offers rear parking sensors, front seat arms rests etc. This is a choice between which features you would like to pick. I would probably go for Verna 1.6, but when it comes to handling, Sunny is better than Verna diesel, so Sunny is also a good pick. I would call it a tie.
Higher version of Hyundai Verna cost more and provide added features without adding much on the performance and handling, so its up to you what all features you desire and how much you are willing to pay for the car you want to buy.
Car Blog India verdict – Nissan Sunny Diesel Vs Hyundai Verna Fluidic Diesel
For the base model, Nissan XL makes much better sense as it comes packed with better handling, more safety features, good interior space and good comfort features. On the other hand, in the higher end models, Verna seems to offer equally good or better value for money. So depends on your choice on how much you would like to spend. For better handling and value for money, I would consider Sunny Diesel a slightly better choice.
