As Gautam Gambhir sets to take the reins of the Indian Cricket Team, we take a look at his incredible car collection. The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced Gambhir’s appointment as the next Indian Coach on Tuesday. After Rahul Dravid’s contract came to an end with the ICC T20 World Cup victory, Gautam Gambhir was seen as his replacement. Now that the official announcement has taken place, a lot of work needs to be done to employ his support staff. For now, let us take a look at the details of the automobiles he possesses.
Car Collection of Gautam Gambhir
Car | Price |
BMW 530d | Rs 70 lakh |
Audi Q5 | Rs 71 lakh |
Mercedes-Benz GLS 350d | Rs 90 lakh |
BMW 530d
The first vehicle in the car collection of Gautam Gambhir is the BMW 530d. 5 Series represents a perfect balance between the extraordinary features of the higher models and the affordability of the lower ones. The 530d has now been discontinued in our market. Prior to that, it used to come powered by a potent 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine which generates 261 hp and 620 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It has a length of over 4.93 m and a wheelbase of 2.97 m. That ensures acres of space inside the cabin.
Audi Q5
Next up, we have Audi Q5. It is also a mid-level SUV from the German luxury carmaker. I have seen many celebrities opt for the Q5 from all walks of life. It draws power from a 2.0-litre TFSI engine which generates a decent 249 hp and 370 Nm of peak power and torque. There is an automatic transmission complimenting this mill which sends power to all four wheels via Audi’s trademark Quattro system. This combination propels the luxury SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds.
Mercedes-Benz GLS 350d
Finally, the car collection of Gautam Gambhir also has a Mercedes-Benz GLS 350d. Note that the GLS represents the S-Class of SUVs in Mercedes’ parlance. It comes with a powerful 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine which generates a healthy 286 hp and 600 Nm of peak power and torque. The automatic transmission powers all four wheels via Merc’s 4MATIC technology. Now, while these are the major vehicles in the garage of the next Indian coach, there have also been reports about him owning a Maruti SX4 and Toyota Corolla. But it is not clear whether he purchased them or got them as rewards.
