Honda has launched the new BS-6 SP 125, which is the first BS-6 motorcycle in India. The new bike replaces the popular CB Shine 125 BS-4.

Honda SP 125 is the latest motorcycle from HMSI, which is BS-6 compliant and also replaces the CB Shine in the market. The SP 125 also gets new features, fuel injection system and cosmetic upgrades from the CB Shine SP 125.

The bike has already started reaching dealerships and the bookings have also commenced. The deliveries of the SP 125 are expected to commence in a couple of weeks. On the other hand, Honda says that the stock of BS-4 CB Shine has nearly exhausted.

The SP 125 is available in five colour options โ€“ Striking Green, Imperial Red Metallic, Pearl Siren Blue and Matte Axis Grey Metallic. For braking, you have front and rear drum brakes as standard with the option of a front disc brake. The suspension is handled by telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable twin shock absorbers at the back.

The prices have increased by a margin of around Rs 9,000. The SP 125 is available in two variants โ€“ Drum and Disc โ€“ priced at Rs 72,900 and Rs 77,100 (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. BS-6 Honda SP 125 competes with the likes of Hero Super Splendor, Hero Glamour 125, Bajaj Discover 125 and Yamaha Saluto 125.

Powering the SP 125 is a 124.6cc air-cooled engine with Programmed Fuel Injection System. Because of that and other electronic aids like eSP, the power is slightly higher at 10.73 BHP. The torque generated through the engine is 10.9 Nm. Replacing the 4-speed gearbox on Shine is the new 5-speed unit with the SP 125.

Better Mileage

Because of the PGMFI system and upgrades to the BS-6 engine, the fuel efficiency is nearly up by 16%. The claimed mileage on the BS-4 125cc engine was around 60 kmpl, which is now around 7-8 kmpl higher on the BS-6 version.

The new BS-6 Honda SP 125 is actually bigger than the CB Shine 125. It is now 2020mm long, 785mm wide and 1103mm tall. The ground clearance is 160mm and the wheelbase stands at 1285mm. In comparison to the Shine, it is now 8mm longer, 23mm wider and 13mm taller.
