It’s common for buyers of popular brands like Hyundai and Maruti to upgrade within the family but the fact that an owner of a Ford Figo has upgraded to an EcoSport, which is among the oldest cars on sale currently, speaks volumes about this age-old Maruti Vitara Brezza-rival

The Ford EcoSport was one of the first compact SUVs to be launched in India. Before the segment became the hottest thing in the country with virtually every automaker launching one, the EcoSport was one of Fordโ€™s most successful products. It was even a hot-seller until the advent of the Maruti Vitara Brezza. Though EcoSport is one of the older subcompact offerings in the Indian auto market, it remains a capable offering in the segment. Today we came across this post from a new EcoSport owner who upgraded from an 8-year-old Figo, thereby demonstrating his loyalty for the carmaker.

The pictures you see here have been uploaded on the ‘Ford EcoSport Owners in India’ group on Facebook. The owner had previously bought a Ford Figo 8 years ago. And now, after being a happy customer for so long, he has bought a brand-new EcoSport from the same showroom. The new EcoSport line-up delivers more value and features. The company has also introduced a sunroof on the Titanium trim after customers provided feedback. This means now half of all the EcoSport trim levels get a sunroof.

Along with the updates, Ford also launched a new variant of the EcoSport. The SE variant remains fairly similar to the other EcoSport models, with the biggest change being the lack of a tailgate-mounted spare tyre. The rear design has also been revised, as the number plate mount has moved up from the rear bumper to the centre of the tailgate, and thereโ€™s a silver bash plate on the bumper. Other changes include a new lighter interior theme.

Prices for the Ford EcoSport range between Rs 7.99 lakh โ€“ Rs 11.49 lakh, ex-showroom. You get a choice of two engines when buying this Maruti Vitara Brezza-rival. The petrol unit here is a fairly potent 1.5-litre unit that makes 122 PS/149 Nm of max power and torque. The oil-burner is a 1.5-litre unit as well and churns out peak power and torque figures of 100 PS/215 Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual for both engines, while the petrol engine also gets the option of a 6-speed torque-convertor automatic.
