Haval-H6

The Haval H6 will rival the likes of the MG Hector and Tata Harrier in India and we expect it to be competitively priced. It comes loaded with features and is a typical SUV in terms of styling.

Chinese auto giant, Great Wall Motors, is all set to make their India debut with the Haval brand at the 2020 Auto Expo. Just a coupe of days back, GWM has teased the upcoming Haval H6 SUV via a tweet. The Haval H6 is a mid-size SUV that will rival the likes of the MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and Mahindra XUV500 in India. Incidentally, the Haval H6 is also one of the best selling SUVs in China.

This Haval H6 has a design that is very American, with its face resembling Jeep SUVs. The face gets Haval’s trademark slatted grille flanked by sleek projector LED headlamps. In profile, there’s a strong shoulder line that runs through the length of the SUV and then there are typical SUV styling elements like body cladding and roof rails which give it a rugged appeal. At the rear, the H6 comes with split LED tail lamps and a sporty bumper with dual exhausts.

On the interiors, the dashboard is asymmetrically laid out but its equipped to the brim with features. Quality of materials used inside the cabin are also top-notch, enough to give the Japanese and the Koreans a run for their money. Features onboard include a touchscreen infotainment, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, all-LED exterior lamps, keyless entry with push-button start, powered front seats as well as a heated steering wheel. The India-spec model is also expected to be offered with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well. Safety features include blind spot detection, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, cross traffic alert, and electronic stability program.

In China, the Haval H6 is powered by two petrol engine options. There’s a 1.5-litre engine and a 2.0-litre unit. The 1.5-litre engine develops 163bhp of power and 280Nm of torque while the 2.0-litre motor puts out 190bhp and 340Nm. Both engines come mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox that drives the front wheels. In India, the Haval H6 is also expected to be offered with a 2.0L diesel engine.

The success of Haval in India depends on how they price their products. Indian consumers are quite unaware of Haval and to attract good customers, Haval will have to offer the h6 with a competitive price tag, just like the MG Hector. That means you could expect a price tag ranging between Rs 12.50 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom India). Apart from the H6, Haval could also bring in the H4 – a Creta and Seltos rival – as well as the H9  to take on the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
