Hyundai Venue Vs Mahindra XUV300

Check out this drag race between Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue Turbo as both get a turbo petrol engine producing over 110 BHP.

Hyundai Venue is among the most powerful compact SUVs right now, along with Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. Barring Ecosport, all three of them get a turbo petrol three-cylinder engine. While Nexon might not come off as a driving-enthusiast car, but surely, XUV300, Venue and the Ecosport are one. Here’s a quick drag race between the Ford SUV and the Hyundai SUV!

On one side, we have the 120 BHP and 172 Nm producing Venue Turbo and on the other side, there’s the 110 BHP and 200 Nm producing XUV300. One is more powerful while the other has more torque to offer. While XUV300 gets a 6-speed manual stick as standard fitment, the other one gets options of a 6-MT and a 7-DCT. However, the manual variant is used in this race.

Right from the start, Mahindra XUV300 takes an early lead. Towards the end, by just a little fraction, the XUV300 defeats Hyundai Venue Turbo. The race was very exciting and there’s just a gap of 0.177 seconds between both the cars. So, despite Venue offering 10 BHP more, why did it lose? The reason is pretty obvious, because of the additional torque that comes with XUV300.

Mahindra compact SUV offers 200 Nm, which is around 28 Nm of torque more. Additionally, XUV300 petrol as well as diesel offers the highest torque figures in the entire segment. Its 1.5 Litre diesel engine is good for 115 BHP and 300 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, Venue also gets a 1.5 Litre diesel engine that is good for 100 BHP and 240 Nm. There’s a huge power and torque gap between both of them.

Prices of Venue commence at Rs 6.7 Lakhs up to Rs 11.52 Lakhs. XUV300 is priced from Rs 7.95 Lakhs going up to Rs 12.29 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The latter comes off as a costlier choice but is the safest car of India offering 5-star safety rating. Venue, however, is now the most feature rich SUV in the class and is a complete VFM product. Soon, there will be two more entrants in this space which will further increase the competition.
